Beating a dead horse
I couldn't help myself from posting these when I read them.
"By saying that our leaders are power-drunk chimpanzees, am I in danger of wrecking the morale of our soldiers fighting and dying in the Middle East? Their morale, like so many bodies, is already shot to pieces. They are being treated, as I never was, like toys a rich kid got for Christmas."
— Kurt Vonnegut, author, WW2 veteran and POW, 10 May 2004
"Of course the people don't want war. But after all, it's the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it's always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it's a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism, and exposing the country to greater danger."
— Herman Goering at the Nuremberg trials
"It's been a fabulous year for Laura and me."
— President George W. Bush, three months after the World Trade Center towers went down
"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we."
— President George W. Bush, Washington, D.C., 8/5/04
"Being Pro-Life don't have to spoil the fun of killing folks who aren't inside of you!" -- George "the executioner" Bush
I'm now going to go cry myself to sleep.

Oh no. The man has no sense whatsoever... This is the same man who wanted to make sure we knew that "More and more of our imports come from overseas".aeridus wrote:Surely the last one is a fake.

He's a jabbering nitwit, and I have nothing for contempt for him. He's actually slacked off in the "fucktardisms" department in the last couple of years... he must actually be practicing his speaches before he gives them now.

And Unscrew the Inscrutable.

While I don't doubt his stupidity, I think a lot of the "I'm quaint and speak simply" is an act. He's a dangerously devious individual and willing to do whatever he has to in order to spin things in his favor. Hell, he managed to avoid getting impeached for the gross mismanagement of the hurricane Katrina affair.
Just because he acts daft doesn't mean he is.

the first law of thermodynamics is: you cant win.
the second law of thermodynamics is: you lose.

I'm thinking the same thing. Even if he would say something that blunt and stupid (which isn't too hard to believe) it still doesn't sound like how he would say it. I'm not quite sure why.aeridus wrote:Surely the last one is a fake.
And anyway, I did a search for it and didn't turn up anything besides a bumper sticker, which isn't exactly a reliable source for a quote.

Its odd realy, many political leaders have had books published about them due to what they did in their lifetimes, helping to bring peace, improve the economy that sort of thing, he is probably the only one whos books will be found in the humour section.

Unfortunately, intelligence is a broad definition and it is possible to be good at one thing but really bad at something else. Clearly, Bush is good and spin and political manoeuvrings to get re-elected despite his incompetant governance. And he has some good advisors. You just need to look at his on camera performance when he was told the WTC was being attacked to know he only understands political fighting.JohnnyTwoEyes wrote:While I don't doubt his stupidity, I think a lot of the "I'm quaint and speak simply" is an act. He is a good politician but a pathetic administrator.
Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin?

The best politician candidate for presidency might well be some ugly guy who lives in his mother's basement and earns $1000 a year.

I'd read on something awful from someone who allegedly worked in the White House that Bush' Texas accent tends to get more pronounced when the cameras are rolling.JohnnyTwoEyes wrote:While I don't doubt his stupidity, I think a lot of the "I'm quaint and speak simply" is an act. Whether it's true or not, I don't know, but from how this person descibed the inner workings of the Adminstrative branch, it sounded like we have come to realize Ross Perot's dream of the goverment being run like a business...too bad it's the company Dilbert works for.
