The video series was made for English-Japanese couples (where the women are Japanese, naturally) to help them learn each other's language. The theory was that doing aerobics while learning things makes them more easily remembered.

In other words, SO CRAZY.
Gah. I notice that the men are...um...less-than-stellar specimens, unlike the fashion-doll women in the other video. And let's see, the women's video is about being mugged, while the men's video is about going shopping. Nope, japanese society isn't heavily fucked up or anything.

Well, gaijin boyfriends are somewhat rare and heavily sought after by a subset of the female population. Basically, if you're Caucasian and have a pulse you can find yourself a cute Japanese girlfriend. (Note: I do not look Caucasian - most Japanese people think I am from Peru and hence I do not have women dripping off me)

As for the situations, well, it's much more likely for a Japanese woman to get mugged in an English-speaking country than it is for anybody to get mugged in Japan. I think that says more about how screwed up the rest of the world is with regards to crime. (and for a foreign man to get mugged in Japan, well, it's going to be pretty rare. At 5'9" I'm bigger than most of the Japanese men that I meet.)

Now I know what to do if I'm ever mugged by George Castanza. "Take what you want, spare me my life".
