Worse yet than the bumperstickers, the flags, oh the flags "Yes I know which fsking country this is, I have lived in it for the past several years" its the blind patriotism.

Hell on that note, patriotism as a whole bugs me somewhat, now I like my country for the most part, it has its flaws, and I have nothing whatsoever against others liking theirs but please this whole "rar best country evar and my belonging to it justifys anything and everything I do providing I never question the government" attitude, it gives me a headache.

I could go into my hatred of moral panics but then I would likely just keep going, I find a lot of things irritating.

Oblivion man, yeah those are a pretty good aproximation of how a lot of people seem to look at things but I think to be fair its more that the idiots are unwilling to improve themselves than actiualy being unable to do so. Personaly I think it could all be greatly improved by further encouragement of critical thinking, however this would likely include rehauling the entire education system and likely a lot of society as a whole along the way which sadly is not in the interests of those in power.

Actually, you seem to be fine with patriotism. From your post, I'd say it's nationalism that rubs you the wrong way.

Patriotism: "I love my country, sure we screw up sometimes, but we can work to make it better."

Nationalism: "I love my country and everything we do is right because we're the best country there is."

The best way to tell a patriot from a nationalist is to try reasoning with him, if you can, you're dealing with a patriot.

Heh fair enough, I s'pose I was thinking patriotism because nationalism I more associate with the, you had great great great grandparents that weren't from our country that means you are stealing our jobs (yet another thing I blame entirely on the BNP)

Here's an obvious one to hate - people who drive under the influance (not just of chemicals, I think stupidity counts as an influance, too). I avoided a collision with a presumably intoxicated driver last night by inches. I was turning toward my apartment when a car several blocks down started heading my way at something like 15 over the speed limit (coming out of a school zone), and accelerating rapidly. He must have been going 30 over by the time he finally realized there was a fucking vehicle in his path and swerved less than a second before he would have hit the back end of my truck (my truck has no balls whatsoever, I was flooring it to get out of his way, but I may as well have gotten out and pushed). Apparently he overcorrected after, because a second later I hear a loud thunk followed by a much louder crunch from the opposite direction he initially swerved. This was right outside my place, so I ran in to tell the friends I had over what was going on, and went back out to check out the damage. A little post in a yard half a block down from where he almost hit me was taken out with it's innards scattered across the yard, and at the next street over was the car in a position almost as illogical as catching your dick in a zipper while unzipping. It was facing 90 degrees to the left of the original direction of travel, about 5 yards down the street to the right, half of it two or three feet in the air high centered on a yard that was terraced with a brick retaining wall (if it hadn't been they would have clearly slammed in to the house). The driver ran, the passenger was cut and bloody (I saw him in handcuffs when the police arrived - LOTS of witnesses, and several calls to 911 in the first minute or two - one of the redeeming features of cell phones). No one hurt other than the passenger, who was apparently intoxicated from the chatter going about, but otherwise fine, and possibly the driver, who was at least well enough to run away. Fucker, I hope it was his car and he's easily traced, he was coming out of a goddamned school zone in a residential neighborhood, there were any number of kids that were lucky they weren't out playing in the yard or riding bikes that evening.

Now here's a sick idea - when I have my own place, I could landscape it so there's a nice solid retaining wall bristling with wrought iron "decorative" spikey bits hanging about head level for various vehicle types. Anyone driving drunk enough to plow in to my yard won't live to regret it

More likely than not I'd just kill a stupid teen that way, though. I think most stupidity's forgivable until about age 20, so I wouldn't want that. But these guys were old enough to suffer for their stupidity. String 'em up by the ballsack and let the crows pluck out their pubes, I say! And when the circulation's cut off and their nutsacks give way, make sure there's a deep vat of iodine, salt, alcohol, and lemon juice for them drop in so they can soak their wounds. Preferably one 20 feet deep with a strong undertow, wouldn't want them surfacing too soon, now would we?

If macs are easier, I don't care what the nerds think of me, I'll fucking get one.

Ooh! Ooh! Know what I hate? Having sinusitis! Well I mean it sounds cool and everything but my sinuses are all pus-y and I have to take antibiotics for about a week, then do a spray of Flonase in each nostril once a day, and snort salt water 6-8 times a day. And then I should be fine and dandy. Grrr...

I get sinus infections every month or two, so I know what you mean. It's terrible.

I just hate firewalls, I don't mind being raped by the internet. :P And I'm pretty good about going to safe sites and not installing bad software, though sometimes I still end up installing a piece of software that installs some assy stuff in the background without my knowing about it. Thankfully I can recover from almost any major system fuckup in about 3 hours. :P

And they are attempting/did pass a law/ammendment against burning the flag. Personally, if someone is doing that they are pissed off and trying to drive a point home. I am not offended by that in the least. What offends me are the fucktards making a buck off of anything and everything they can print with the american flag pattern. Don't use the flag as ass floss, it's fucking offensive. Burning the flag should be protected free speech. How an american flag boxer shorts or bikini has any message other than ooh look a bikini, is beyond me.

Lost by one Senate vote. Should be safe for another two years.

The proper way to dispose of a worn out flag can be found here- http://www.usflag.org/flagetiquette.html
www.usflag.org wrote:When a flag is so worn it is no longer fit to serve as a symbol of our country, it should be destroyed by burning in a dignified manner.
I hope they keep this in mind when it's time for the next vote.

some comedian, whose name i cannot recall because i suck at names wrote:I was talking with an american of my acquantaince a few days ago and he said 'with how often things seem to be America against the world these days, you all ought to have a single unified flag,' to which i responded, 'We do, it's the same as yours, just on fire.' What they actually refer to is not specifically flag-burning, but flag desecration. So if the bill had passed, it would be illegal to tear up, spit on, deliberately dirty, graffiti, or otherwise show disrespect to a flag or a representation thereof. I wonder if you'd be allowed to ice a cake with the stars and stripes and then eat it.

In one episode of MadTV, it's explained that the colors and pattern of the US flag was expressly designed to send a signal to the viewer's brain, shutting off the lower GI tract, to prevent people from shitting on the flag.

....that would suddenly make the extensive and psychotically frequent constipation i had during my year at UCBehind Levitz make so much more sense.
