How will you be doing it today?

Today's comic made me wonder, if you celebrate Easter, how do you do it?

My family goes for the chocolate easter egg hunt. No one in our house believes in the easter bunny anymore, but we still do it because it's fun. Though my parents did try to get out of it this year, but I told them that the Easter bunny sent me an e-mail telling me that he'd be coming. We also usually have soft-boiled eggs and toast for breakfast. We generally stay in the house and do family stuff, play board games or go for walks... Today my mom and I played DDR together and that was fun.

But, how do you celebrate Easter, if you do? If you don't, is there another holiday you celebrate at the same time, such as passover( though I'm not exactly sure when passover ends, so it could already be over)? or do you not celebrate at all today?

And just because I've never done it before, I'm going to make a poll too.

Usually I have a nice dinner with my dad's family. This year however, I'm doing logic homework while they gorge themselves.

Spent Easter hiding Eggs and such from the kids, then my Stepsister's kids came over to come help out with the Egg hunt. Then After everyone found candy and what not the grown ups talked while I played with the kids. My reward through all this; they pay me in candy to give them piggy back rides

So far, pretty good day. Soon I'll have to clean the house and fix Easter Dinner and what not

I celebrate Easter like most college students-the sleep in way.

I celebrate easter by waiting until it's over, then buying candy on sale and getting drunk on chocolate :shucks:

That's about as close to celebraing I'll be doing for Easter as well. I couldn't even do any shopping today because all the stores I wanted to go to were closed. I'll just have to go grocery shopping tomorrow and see if there's anything left to pick over.
One of the drawbacks to being an atheist, I guess. At least I don't have to worry about being peer-pressured into tithing.

My stepmom is big on holiday gatherings, so I usually end up going over to my Dad's house and hiding with him up in his study while my stepmom has all of her ex-husbands, their families, their friends, her friends, their familys, and her kids over.

Luckily, this year was just immediate family, maybe 7 people, so that was quite nice.

My little sister still believes in the Easter bunny, so we get the works.

I celebrated the equinox a few weeks back, but today went to Buca de Beppos, with friends. Ate wonderful Italian food. Ohhed and ahhed over my one friend's 4.75 year old son's easter loot as he showed it off to me proudly.

We have a gathering of most of the immediate family, usually for brunch on the second day of Easter. ^^ This time, it's going to be a little later in the day.

So tellner, why is it on that day do you only eat matzoh and not other breads?

and why is it that you eat bitter herbs?

and why is it that you dip your food not once, but twice?

and why is it that you eat reclining?

(or... depending on your tradition, only eat roasted meat?)

spent the weekend down in Los Angeles (okay, in Malibu), with about a hundred other morris dancers and musicians. On Saturday, we got stuck on the bus with Bedlam Bells, from Arizona. It quickly became obvious why they put the Bedlams and the Rats on the same bus tour (any team that can dance with a pint of beer in one hand and not spill is our kind of people). The Rats premiered my newest dance, Crumbling Away, and kicked ass. One dropped stick and one stick cracked end to end (four dancers, each held two sticks). It still kicked ass. Some verging-on-major scheduling screw ups on Saturday, but we still managed to make things work even if we were handed the kinda crappy deal.

Small amounts of drama Saturday night, but mostly good party. We brought a small section of The Bar and made mixed drinks. Sunday featured many slow-moving people with hang overs creeping to the dining hall.

Oh yeah, and the Rats showed up at the Ale wearing my Pye-Rat tshirts. Those were a hit. We sold a bunch of 'em and more people were asking about them. May have to do a second printing.

Left LA about 4:30-5pm. Arrived home about 11pm. Even traffic on the 405 (Santa Monica freeway) wasn't too bad, as most people were going into LA, not leaving. Had a few slow downs on the Grapevine where semis decided to race and were taking up both lanes. Same happened on I-5 down on the flats in a couple places. Other than that, mostly an uneventful trip.

Arrived home to find out George had had a migraine from hell most of the day, but hadn't gone to the clinic or ER. I gave him a choice: he could take two of my kinda wimpy migraine pills and if they worked stay home, or go straight to the ER now. He elected to take my pills and call his doctor in the morning. He now has his own prescription and hopefully we won't have any more of that nonsense.

So. Fucking. Tired. Today.
Keep wanting to fall asleep.

Hmm. Neither me nor my gf are all that religious, so we don't really do anything, whether for Easter or Passover. Basically, it's just a four-day weekend for us.
