Poor lil goats... Humans get stiff when excited too, but in our species it doesn't wear off after only three seconds!

As a survival trait, this one would only work against a predator completely dependent on the 'hunt, then kill'-instinct. Any predator with bigger brains that sees a prey lie still is going to go directly for the throat, am I right? (I mean, I would, if I were trying to hunt a goat for dinner and the dumb thing tried to possum me.)

All I can think of is three things; either it's a recessive bred pure by humans, it's a possum trick for fooling the finicky fresh-kill-predators who won't touch something they think has died of causes other than them killing it themselves, or it's a herd thing where having a couple offspring who serve as sacrificial goats for the rest of the group to get away; sucks to be that one, but all your brothers and sisters get away. I dunno if the audio covers why they do that or not, I don't have any sound.
