Ah...see, not only do I live smack-dab next to powells in beaverton...but I live near the MAX stop, which will take me directly to powells city of books ><;;; That would be why I'm broke all the time...

I visit nearly every section of the bookstore.

Here are some mangas that I liked:

Fullmetal Alchemist (I actually own this one)
Death Note
Love Hina (for guys pretty much)
Dragon Ball Z (what can I say)
Ranma 1/2
GTO (the best manga EV4R!!)

I was quite pleased to have found Elfquest republished in manga form, though by the time I got around to collecting it I had to scrounge around a few comic shops because it's usually a low-stocked item.

As much as I enjoy prowling around bookstores, I have to be careful that I don't either
a) come home with even more computer books that I don't seem to make time to actually read,
or b) give in to the temptation to start moving the bibles to the "religious fiction" section and see how long it takes people to notice

I've never looked... but what sections are bibles/qurans/torahs (do they even have those in bookstores?)/vedas put under?

Most of the big book stores around here have a "Religion" section, usually located not too far from the computers, but all stores seem to have a completely different layout even from others in the same chain.

Its been a while since I actually read any paper manga. I usually get all my stuff from the news groups, and even then, its typically old Urusai Yatsura or Crusher Joe scans, untranslated. I can read maybe 10 characters in Japanese, but a lot of the old manga was so action packed and art dense that you don't need to worry about it.

There is also this series that, near as I can tell, is about this kid who descides he wants to become the worlds best sushi chef, and he travels Japan, and in some latter issues, different parts of the world learning various techniques from different chefs. Its like a great cross between Golden Boy, Dragon Ball, and Iron Chef.

My newest favorite manga is "Host Club"
and that's all I have to say about that.

There are so many fun manga out there ... XXXholic, Tsubasa, Negima ... The list goes on and on and it's hard to keep up sometimes. ^^;

Ah, Manga, I'm picky when it comes to that anymore, more often I'll read Pet Shop of Horrors or Trigun, I did get into Wish for a little bit but it kind of faded out, I have been looking all over for Seraphic Feather though, that was good

PSOH was my favorite manga ever ;___;
And WISH was cool...but I could *never* get over the fact that the main character was really a guy and they just changed pronouns for the English version ><

Pet Shop of Horrors is a great series, isn't it? I have only one more volume to collect, then I've got the whole thing! ... And of course it's not to be found in the local shops.

More varieties and types than you might ever want. See stop ten, on my local hasty map, at least.

So it's like one of those comic strips where you have to make up your own dialogue as you go along?

Her itinerary at the bookstore included a stop in the religion section for Gnostic and non-Christian works.

Another reason that The Great Sink of Time and Money (Powell's) is so nice is that they have a big enough selection to separate books pretty finely. Interested in history, European, early modern? It's in a different section than history, European, ancient. And for religion I can go straight to the traditions I'm interested in and bypass the rest.

To illustrate this last conclusion, I have produced an 80k visual aid... Pardon it's sloppiness, it was made in five minutes on my tablet. Pardon it's vagueness, also... It was made from memory.

A typical trip to Barnes and Noble (for Borders, change the floorplan, and delete the Starbucks trip). You can assume the word "browse" after the numbers... Could be anything from looking for new titles, to sitting indian style on the floor and reading, to just grabbing titles outright.

So... yeah. I missed that. I thought I was keeping good tabs on this thread, I really did... I thought it was boring, that my comment had gone unnoticed... and yet... It did go unnoticed, but ONLY BY ME! ARGH!

And I don't go to libraries, so it's unlikely that I will see it any time in the near future.

On that note, I'm almost afraid to ask about comics in general at libraries...

I don't understand how you could not.

In bookstores, they generally have very, very many of the books of the types and sorts to which you refer in your question... (you asked "do they even have those in bookstores?")

They are typically kept in the religion and philosophy section, which, in the bookstore I floor-planned in my link, above - a Barnes & Noble, as it happens - is at the place I mark with the number ten... Denoting both a stop in my visit to said store, and a point on my explanatory list.

(Um... Nevermind... I was typing the same time others were typing also, aparantly... But thanks for calling me boring. )
