New Year Resolutions

It is a rather strange tradition, making new years resolutions, considering anything that you would plan to change at this specific time is something that you know you should have changed earlier, but maybe it is the sense that the whole world is changing something that gives people the will to analyze themselves to see what about themselves could use alteration. Perhaps it is that sense of going with the group that gives us a bit of an edge in making this change toward self-improvement that we would not have otherwise have found the effort to make. So, does anyone have a new years resolution? What is it? Do you not have one because you think that they are silly? If you do have one, what changes do you intend to make in your life to help yourself succeed in realizing your resolution?

[my resolution is to become more extroverted, be more comfortable with who I am, and more honest with others about that identity. I'm starting along that path with this post, that is, if it doesn't give me an error for the 4th time]

-First, "lose" this virginity

-Second, Pass all my classes, get out of high school and get on with my life

-And lastly, work out twice as much as I have been

Oh, and get a useful hobby

I resolve to continue not making resolutions, save those related to not making resolutions.

Although it does seem an interesting coincidence that, at this time, I've all but decided to shift careers. (Although technically, I haven't actually had a career yet, so I don't know if this can be called a shift. But I did get my BS in computer science.) If all goes well over the next couple of weeks, I will have started learning to fly.

Call it going to my 3rd (or possibly fourth) major interest.

1. Computers
2. Anime
3 or 4. Flying
4 or 3. Business
5-10: Graphics, math, genetics, three more things to be named later.

(Although, I'm envisioning heavily-anime-influenced charter plane rides to major cons in the future... If they can sell cels for $1600, there's probably a market for this.)

-Be on time for all my classes, even the (shudder) eight thirty logic class.
-Eat less crap and more healthy stuff.
-Absorb the lesson that while wine is okay as long as the buzz lasts, I start to feel crushingly lonely once it's over, so I should stop drinking the damn stuff already.
-Spank harder.

Back when I actually updated my webcomic, I used 300 dpi to scan it in. I'm still pretty happy with that resolution. I'll stick with 300 dpi.

I have 14 so far, they're listed at http://www.43things.com

But they're less resolutions, and more things I need/want to be doing, and some how putting them there, has made then more real. I'm not being a Nazi about them either, I'm happy to work on them over time, and not burn them out in a couple of weeks.

This year I resolve to:

work out more (not bad recently, but I've got to keep it up)

keep my damned apartment clean

get into gradschool *crosses fingers*

be a better boyfriend (romantic/thoughtful/attentive)

not drink so much (if at all)

try to keep the amount of stuff I have at a minimum

to not waste as much money as I inevitably end up doing (related to #5)

blog more often (and post more often, havent been around much (sorry))

all I can think of at the moment, but there's more (I'm sure)

and hentaicat... trust me, sex isnt as wonderful as everyone makes it out to be, what's good are the feelings/whatnot that generally goes along with it.

The best way to find a mate is to meet and get to know anyone/everyone you can, be charming as much as possible. The more socially confident you are, the more attractive you will be. (imagine vince vaughn(sp?) from wedding crashers/dodgeball)

also, watch 40 year old virgin, its a good example of how the importance of sex is inflated. Dont see sex as a goal, see it as an inevitability; if at some point your in a relationship with someone and it gets all hot and heavy, dont get ahead of yourself. Just let it happen and enjoy the ride (and bring protection, dont want any little hentai-kittens running around, right?)

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that site exists.

Does it make me a bad person that a site like that made me laugh?
No offense to anyone who follows such things, but that fetish is such the antithesis of my personal views on the subject.

You'd have $17 and 54 cents.

Sorry, couldn't resist. You'll find someone one day.

On the subject of...

I didn't have one until about the 3rd, when the consumption of a couple of chocolate sweets resulted in majorly bad heartburn, so it's not so much of a New Year's Resolution, more accurately a New Year's Necessity.

No more chocolate. To add to the Hiatus Diet of eat little and often, avoid fatty and spicy foods, avoid acidic foods, banninate coffee, drink alcohol sparingly, get an allergy test, don't eat too many cereals, cut down on fizzy drinks, drink a lot of water, don't eat too much dairy, buy shares in Gaviscon Advance and pray it doesn't get big enough for surgery or to cause Oesophagal Cancer.

Bummer :(

*sigh* And if I had a dollar for every time I told some young guttersnipe something only to have them reject the wisdom of my superior intellect and experience...

*tiny wink & grin*
