I like'em all for various things. I work with people who do artsy alt pr0n stuff, so I really respect pictoral smut for an artistic outlet in and of itself. I find a lot of porn to be gross. The women are skanky, the men are hideous, and it shows all the technical expertise of a twelve-year-old with a camcorder. Ironically, I think video pornography is about the least appealing way to showcase the human form - quite apart from the fact that it all looks so fake. Now, that said, there have been some photographs I've come across that I rather like, particularly in the areas of goth/punk culture. Not sure what to pick. I like porn stories best probably. i prefer to read books over tv and even movies too. I like 'good' porno movies. Must have a plot, storyline and somewhat acting The Masseuse staring Hypatia Lee is a good example of this. They tried to remake it with Jenna Jameson and her hubby and the only way it's really watchable for me is to turn on the commentary track. Jenna is used up though. Really starting to look skanky. On the one hand, porn involves real people, while hentai does not. Many people I know, can't get over this particular detail.

However, hentai transcends the bonds of physics, biology, most laws (for now), sanity, etc. Their universe exists as a set definition. There is no concern for safety as they cannot be hurt; no concern for sanity for they cannot lose their mind; no concern for consentuality because their existence is defined by the same maker that consents for them.

The BDSM community would probably hate me if they ever heard my thoughts on SSC... It's a fine system, to be sure, but it's only required due to our human frailties. Once we overcome those, it will no longer be necessary as its tenants will be impossible to break, by their nature. You can't say that the law of gravity is a good idea or a bad one; it just is, because there's no getting around it. What is safety to an immortal being? What is sanity to someone who's lived for eons? What is consentuality to someone who defines their own environment at will? This led me to develop the concept of "Consent by Tolerance," whereby consent can be considered granted by a party if that party a) has the power to stop a situation, b) has the will to do so, and c) does not. Of course, applying such a concept to real life at this time would be... irresponsible, at best. We haven't developed quite enough, yet.

(Having the will is quite important; in many cases, a battered spouse has the power to stop a situation, but not the will; this could be for any number of reasons, and certainly is not meant to be "blaming the victim." They might not know they can do anything, or might be trapped in a "but they love me" memeplex, or trapped in a "I deserve this" memeplex, etc. Consent by Tolerance requires a "I can stop this any time I want to, but I want this to happen or don't care if it happens." meme.)
