DEEPLY disturbing

Post by Error of Logic »

This company recently started putting out a set of T.V.-commercial using virtually the same text, featuring either the woman or the little girl, dressed as they are in the picture.
Disturbing part: they used to have an annoying moron of a guy doing the text part. When you see the full-grown woman talking (and, incidentally, moving suggestively all over the place) you hear his voice. Only way I can manage to not be jarred out of my skull by the discrepancy is to either shut off the sound or close my eyes.
More disturbing part: They have an actual little girl doing a commercial on T.V. in lingerie. How sick is that?

OK, that's not good.
"It is the difference between the unknown and the unknowable, between science and fantasy - it is a matter of essence. The four points of the compass be logic, knowledge, wisdom and the unknown. Some do bow in that final direction. Others advance upon it. To bow before the one is to lose sight of the three. I may submit to the unknown, but never to the unknowable. The man who bows in that final direction is either a saint or a fool. I have no use for either."

Well, I have no idea what language that's in, but it looks to be an all-in-one telecommunications company, ADSL, telephone and mobile phone.
Kinda like what the phone and cable monopolies in the US are trying to do.

Ce6 is correct, that is what they sell. As for what the little girl has to do with it ... I think it's supposed to be a 'cuter' version of what the adult woman does, minus the annoying voice-over by the general company spokesman, who has, on occasion, called himself 'the scarlet pimp'. Note that that's what the company is called, 'scarlet'.

So what you are, in fact, saying, is that she's chibified.

And some people think it's impossible to properly guess the meanings of unknown words merely from the context in which they're used...

actually, not even knowing what language it's in, let alone the context or the surrounding words, I'm impressed that I was able to decipher as much as I did. All that French and English I studied back in school paid off if for nothing else than helping to dissect foreign words with similar grammatical roots. Unfortunately all the Japanese and Chinese lessons I took were useless in this regard

So, for the record, what language is this in? Knowing that, maybe Google or babelfish can help me figure out if they're complaining about their competitors charging 39.95 per month, or if that's Scarlet's price. And what service costs an extra e2.50?
Not that it really matters for me, being on an entirely different continent. Just a matter of curiosity about the language. I know it's not English, French, Spanish, Portugese, Italian, Esperanto or Polish. And it doesn't look convoluted enough to be German (though I could be wrong). Aside from those, my exposure to the myriad languages of Western Europe is a bit lacking.

At first, I thought the little girl had a badge in her hand, so I assumed the text said "Traceroute complete. The police will be there shortly." ;)
