Very long time lurker, first time poster... yadayadayada...

This chess grandmaster's comments of how to communicate with aliens (on slashdot) provides some interesting things to think about, and provides an even better quote that i'm sure will make squiddy et al. quite amused:

We can just imagine a group of aliens playing their first few games against Fritz; just when they think that they have got this

Yeah, it's a fairly obscure move where one pawn moves two spaces forward from its starting location, and afterwards a pawn on the same row as it moves one space behind it (the space it skipped over in the two-space move) and takes it.

Obviously the obscurity of it both helps and hurts the joke
