Kate and Leopold?

Has anybody here seen the romantic comedy Kate and Leopold, starring Hugh Jackman and Meg Ryan?

Christine and I went midnight bowling recently with some friends of hers, and one of them commented that I reminded her of that movie. I'd never seen it, and, intrigued, looked it up at the Internet Movie Database (http://www.imdb.com) the next morning. The concept looks entertaining, I like Hugh Jackman, and I like anything that even vaguely involves the reappearance of chivalry...growing up, as I did, reading (and practically raised by!) the fiction of Edgar Rice Burroughs, wherein the heroes are always ready to lay their lives on the line in defense of the women they love, opening doors and such for women, even ones I don't know, is as much an instinct for me as is breathing.

So, anybody want to offer any opinions on this? I went to rent it, but the video place we go to didn't have it.

I've seen Kate and Leopold a few times. I found it pretty interesting. Not too many time-travel plots end up all that intelligent. Need I remind you of the whole 'Bill and Ted' fiasco.

Anyhow, it was a romantic comedy that was based around the concept that this eccentric man brought back a Duke back from early New York, back when the Brooklyn Bridge was being built.

I won't spoil the plot for you, but suffice it to say it's witty and has a nice splash of romance. Part chick flick...part comedy. I'd say 7.5-8/10.

If you're looking for a rental place, I'd recommend Blockbuster or Hollywood Video. They've got pretty much anything. Plus...NO MORE LATE FEES AT BLOCKBUSTER! You just gotta buy the video after a few days late...>.>

I liked the movie. No real science behind it, and if you kinda like romantic chic flicks, I say go for it.

If you have a movie channel or two, it will likely be on this weekend.

I was thinking about it the other day on my way to a client. It's a fun enough movie, comedically wise. I've never been a fan of some things Leopold reacts to, and I rather like him pointing it out, but we don't need a Leopold in our lives.

Sorry if vague, tryin' not to spoil.

A little too much deus ex machina, even for a time travel movie, but its cute, and certianly..

anyway, all hair E.R.B.

So tell us Bill, Tarzan, John Carter, or Pelucidar?

Little bit of all three. I have the first Pellucidar novel, the first six in the Barsoom series (First read Princess when I was in 5th grade), and Tarzan of the Apes, Return of Tarzan, Beasts of Tarzan (two copies of this one, one from a 1922 printing, in fair condition, that'll be buried with me) Son of Tarzan, Tarzan and the Golden Lion, Tarzan and the Ant-Men, Tarzan At The Earth's Core, Tarzan the Invisible, and Tarzan: The Lost Adventure.

Barsoom is my favorite by far, and now I've got my own Dejah Thoris... :D Also, supposedly, a Princess of Mars movie is in the works, directed by the guy who gave us Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.

Incidentally, I'm also a great fan of Sherlock Holmes, and the other day, Christine and I were together on her couch, and I ran my hand up her back, causing her to put her head back and arch herself. The following is are conversation as nearly as I remember it. Red text indicates her half.

"Like that, do you?"
"You notice everything, don't you?"
"Regular Sherlock Holmes, I am."
"And where would Sherlock Holmes be without his Watson?"
"Hehe...In the books, there's only one woman who Sherlock Holmes actually respects...her name is Irene Adler, and she's described as eclipsing and predominating the whole of her sex...and I've found a girl who matches that description perfectly."
"You're so bad...*giggle*"

Man, now I wanna go reread Princess of Mars...again...for like the third time this year.
