Is Ghastly really coming to a town near me....again?

I've recently read on the I-Con 2005 website about last year's convention. It was a resounding success. I myself am a resident of Long Island, New York...and attended the con last year. Sadly, due to the fact that the convention didn't list the almighty one properly, "Ghastly"...I couldn't find the damn panel he was in. It was only after the convention that I found out he was listed under his real name. *VULCAN DOPESLAP SELF*

Anyhow, from this link to I-Con 2005's website http://www.iconsf.org/comics.html ....Will Ghastly once again make an appearance?

...I can dream can't I?

As a matter of fact I have just today heard from Icon and it seems that I will, saddly, not be invited to attend Icon-25 but may, possibly, be invited to attend perhaps Icon-26 or Icon-27.

Sorry too about the poorly printed programmes last year. According to the many e-mails I received you were not the only one who had no idea what panels I was on. I should have specified that they promote me by my pen-name Ghastly and not me real name which very few recognize me by.

D'oh. I'll make sure if I am invited back to Icon (or any convention that I am invited to) that I'm listed in the literature by my more commonly known pen-name, Ghastly.

*goes off to sob in a corner somewhere*

In any event, it wasn't your fault that the people at I-Con are unaware of your awesomeness. Let's hope for I-Con 26. ^_^ In the meantime I might just have to catch you at some other con thingie.

By the way Uncle Ghastly, it's nice to finally meet you even if it can't be in person. Truthfully however...I can't be trusted. >.>

I *really* think you should attend the San Diego Comic-Con. Mainly because I can't afford to go to any other convention...

It's highly unlikely that I'd ever be invited to be a guest at Comic-Con and I certainly can't afford the trip.

What about Otakon in Baltimore, MD? XD That being the convention I'll attend following I-Con.

Unless the convention is in Toronto or Hamilton the only way I can attend is if I'm invited as a guest and have my travel and accomodation covered by the con.

~sigh~ Yeah, I know Ghastly. Its a shame too. The San Diego Comic Con is easly the biggest and best Con I've been to. Plus its in my home town which is an awesome place to vacation at.

I'm on staff at an anime con in Wisconsin... I'd love to see you at No Brand Con. Unfortunately I was one of the only people who thought it'd be cool to have you as a guest.
Meh. Heathens.
However, if you find yourself in north-western Wisconsin in April...

Your story is one I am all too familiar with Ri-chan.

I get tonnes of e-mail from people who work with conventions saying they tried to get me invited as a guest only to be verbally assaulted by the rest of the convention staff for daring to suggest that a hentai comic artist be invited as an honoured guest.

Sure they'll sell tables in artist's alley to teenage girls who will sit there and draw doe-eyed catboys sucking each other's cocks all day but appearently inviting an artist who draws a very popular adult webcomic as a guest will sully the sacred purity of their convention.

That's why I have to give mad props to I-Con. People may say it's just a small convention but by golly they were the first convention with the balls to fly an artist like me hundreds of miles to attend as an honoured guest. Not only were they rewarded with some very lively and entertaining panels but some lucky convention attendees were rewarded with a very rare prize indeed. Original painted artwork by Ghastly. For each panel I was on I did a quick watercolour based on the panel's theme which I gave as a prize to one audience member at the end of the panel. Most people know it's increadably difficult to get me to part with originals (especially unscanned originals) yet there I was doing it for free.

Take heart Ri-chan, when the revolution comes those who mocked you will be the first against the wall.

Tentacles ready... aim... FIRE!

this is why there needs to be an organized Hentai Con, or Hcon or something. Admission is 18 and up only, rigorusly enforced, and inside, hey, its 18 and up! Anything goes.

The trick is to hold it in some place with pretty liberal laws regarding public nudity. Maybe Canada, I dunno. Its my dream though.. 24 hour hentai rooms, tentacle porn on huge screens. Naughty cosplay competitions. oh baby.

hell, there is a Yaoi con after all, so why not?

Somebody told me a funny story about last year's Akon. during the midnight Hentai fest someone turned on the lights. And the sound of quite a few zippers were heard.

Ahhh, all anecdotal.. or perhaps we can coin a new pharse.. Convention Legends?

There were maybe 3 blankets, and one girl in the back I was pretty sure was making with the head, but the jerking off.. naa.. people are having far too much fun making fun of the hentai to jerk off.

Hell, when you get a chant of "CUM CUM CUM CUM CUM" going as one of the characters is about to cum on another characters face, jerking off seems secondary.

Hell yeah! At Otakon 2004 they showed Girl Next Door. I swear more people cheered in the theater than at a professional football game.

On a side note regarding that convention, I think it was pretty freaking amusing. One of the other films they were planning on showing got lost somehow, and we spent half an hour telling dirty jokes. We also got free fanservice from a giant cosplay tentacle. *smile* Memories...
