yeah, I could have told you that... one more reason I hate being up here. If you don't have drunks pounding on your door, you'll have bible thumpers there instead.Usagi-kun wrote:Im glad to see that my state now belongs to Canada, but...I worry about CJ being in a Jesusland teritory...
We are well and truly tentacle-raped now

County by county maps always look like that, even when democrats win. Oregon is 90% red, but the state went blue... BECAUSE NO ONE LIVES OUT THERE. Half the state is desert, there are more cows than people east of the mountains. It's more or less the same everywhere in the country, there is a LOT of open space out there, but most people live in the cities, and the election is based on people voting, not acres voting.Though on a more serious note, after looking at the county-by-county breakdown for the election (and seeing a couple other maps someone pulled up at work) it looks like the results of this election are the revenge of rural America against us stinky, liberal, gay-lovin', pagan city-dwellers.

That's pretty much how I feel. I am just thankful that most people that I know don't really bring up the topic of religion with me. Yeah, I am invited to a few religious ceremonies (weddings, baptismals for my upcoming cousin, etc), but that's a little different.ce6 wrote:As a moral atheist, you can probably see how this disturbs me, at least slightly.
I am fairly moral, but not for reasons of "But God will punish me if I don't!"
I actually compare religions more and more with cults. They tell you what to do, you give them money, and people are willing to fight and die all in the name of their god.
... But this is neither the time nor the place for this discussion.
If Blue America secedes and joins Canada, the question is: Will Ghastly welcome us with open tentacles? Certainly Nort and F'ga will.
Should Alberta join Jesusland? Or is it Saskatchewan that has all the crazies?
I think Ohio should split into two, just so I can have Dennis Kucinich and the Rust Belt in the USC.
I propose sending Freddy down to Jesusland. Super bumfuck genki sodomy laws wai!
BTW, I love maps:
Counterpunch proposes an alternative solution: Give Cali to Mexico, or at the very least have Canada assimilate the northern central Blue states into one province
Here's how Jesusland looks at the world with the new capital of Crawford, TX marked by a cross:
(REALLY sorry for destroying the format, but I can't shrink this!)

I have a dream...
We can just hope that Buddhism, Hinduism, and various Neo-Pagan paths sweep the US in the next couple of decades.
Get out there and de-Evangelize!
(Maybe It's different in other places, but here in PA, pagans tend to be moving out of cities and into the rural areas... interesting thought)
