Web help or: How to tentacle rape hotlinkers

For those of you who know such things, how would I stop bandwidth thieves ala the Ghastly method?
I ask cause I've managed to go over my 4GB limit somehow this month, and it seems that all the traffic is coming from just a few images.

I don't know the specifics, but in general you have to check the refering URL. If the refering URL isn't from your own site, refuse the connection, or sent some small file ala Angelfire.
