Ghastly being removed from wikipedia...

well... I wasn't here the first time around. The one thing I notice as I skimmed over it was the idea that wikipedians -totally- miss the only significant advantage wikipedia has... that it can and does contain so many articles that would never make a paper version.

Long-tail encyclopedics. srsly.

My little sister should have a wikipedia entry because she was on "What not to wear" (as the friend calling for help). My dog should have a wikipedia entry because she's locally famous in the SCA. Freekin -everything- should have a wikipedia entry. Why...? Because it can. Dur.

Completely off topic, I'd just like to say that I hate those two hags from "What Not To Wear." Who died and made them queens of personal style?

To be fair, that's not the only advantage Wikipedia has. It also has a huge pool for volunteer labor. That means it can be updated much faster than a normal encyclopedia. Oh, and it's free, in both senses of the word.

But if I were an ambitious person, and had a lot of money (which tend to go together) I would start a new, even wilder and woollier Wikipedia fork. I know there are already a few forks in the works, but they all seem to be going the other way.

my dog is a poster dog for the local SPCA
he was so skinny that you could count every rib, was abused too
now hes so fat he has 2 rolls and half the time hes on his back trying to get his belly rubbed

the wiki-ites are just a hive mentality, I have to agree 100% with ED about wiki, just a bunch of wanks

plus
if the kill the current page you can just make about 30 new ones with different spelling to fuck with them

Isn't ED basically a leadership free encyclopedia?

Believe it or not, I'm actually banned from Uncyclopedia because I ran a Tor exit node for a while. I suppose they'd un-ban me if I took it up with them, Wikipedia did once I demonstrated I wasn't running the exit node anymore. But it goes to sure you, petty control freaks lurk everywhere. I just went to check if I'm b& on ED too, but apparently no one can register right now because their captcha is on the blink.
