Firefox is slow to load, and the only true argument to switch is tabbed browsing - which I do not use. All other differences are minor and/or caused by lazy web developers who can't be assed to actually make the minor adjustments needed for full compatability.
I've converted a couple of pages written for Mozilla to work the same in IE - not my own pages, but some a friend made. I found an occasion where FF did what he wanted it to, since he'd been testing it there - but I found that if it were following standards, it should not have produced the output it did.
IE, on the other hand, actually *did* do what the standards told it to do with the CSS he'd written, but that wasn't what he wanted it to do.
In other words... don't take the Firefox evangelists' words for 100% true.
That's a lot of smarties.

On my P2-333/98se machine Mozilla runs much faster than IE although it does take a bit longer to load. It also doesn't crash or get spyware raped nearly as much. Oddly enough I couldn't get Firefox to install on my machine which is why I'm still running Mozilla suite (only without the mail and usenet support installed.
Because mozilla kicks ass, gets less spyware and adware, less popups, and is mascoted by a cute little fox.

Sigh. I'm about ready to jump ship and install Firefox anyway. Safari is missing quite a few features that I really liked. Like being able to choose where I save files to on the fly (Safari only lets you chose "On the Desktop" or a predetermined folder and neither of those may be the right spot). And there's no way to do exceptions for popup blocking under Safari for sites like Expedia. Plus, it just plain misses a lot more popups and pop-unders than Netscape/Mozilla ever did. And there's no sidebar (having to install a plugin that may or may not work every time you upgrade does not count).
But I have hundreds of bookmarks. Oh the pain...

If I could make firefox play nice and auto open new things in tabs, I'd use it.
