Well, if it counts for anything, I've found some nice pics on orc ladies:

And I'm an orc-fan, they're always so much cuter and sympathic than elves, in my opinion. Got some female orc and troll characters of my own, but haven't scanned any images of them yet.

Orcs cuter them elfs? Well you do have a taste for strong ladies. I Loved the last picture where a Halfling stuck his arrow up that orc ladie ass. Hehehehe. Size really does not matter.

I think it's more a case of being shot in the ass as opposed to it being stuck up it. But that might of been what you were going for.

For some very particular values of "cute", I suppose.

If any of you haven't read it yet you have to read Mary Gentle's Grunts. It has wonderful Orcs, plenty of Elf defamation, loathsome halflings and does a bangup job of driving a stake through the shambling, maggot ridden undead corpus of bad Tolkein knock-offs. It's almost time for the Final Battle between the Light and the Dark. The Nameless Necromancer sends Orcs of the Man-clever Fighting Agaku to steal fell weapons from a Dragon's hoard. Unfortunately (but predictably) the hoard has a curse on it - "You shall become that which you steal". Orc Marines. Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Come to think of it you should read everything she's written except maybe Golden Witchbreed.
"It is the difference between the unknown and the unknowable, between science and fantasy - it is a matter of essence. The four points of the compass be logic, knowledge, wisdom and the unknown. Some do bow in that final direction. Others advance upon it. To bow before the one is to lose sight of the three. I may submit to the unknown, but never to the unknowable. The man who bows in that final direction is either a saint or a fool. I have no use for either."

O.O

Ok... I've always liked 'em muscly and hawt... I can learn to live with green. As long as they can learn to live with soap and water from time to time.

Heh, I've sometimes been known to paint myself green just so I could get close to the soap and water... Well, actually, I've not gone quite that far - yet
*sigh* You gotta love temptation and deep breaths, whether it's triggered via an orc a tentacle or a god-like creature equipped with your own personally favourite appendages
I shall keep myself in oysters for the rest of the week, thank you very much.

Actually, while that hasn't happened yet, there's a whole website totally devoted to WoW "fanart"

I've often wondered why, in fantasy, races will fall into two broad categories. There's 'us', meaning Humans and Elves and all their allies with, well, skin coulored skin, and then there's 'them', trolls, orcs minotaurs and the rest who are all bestial, evil and a different colour. Surely Trolls have parents and go home for Christmas?

To me, the split has always been - does it have respect for sentient life? Humans and elves and whatnot do, by and large, and your average troll finds elf-kebabs quite tasty. So that's why they're "them."

But then you end up with a split straight down the middle of each race. Humans will kill for a pretty ring, and Orcs can be incredibly noble in the "Run, all of you, RUN! I'll hold them up as long as I can..." way. in the end it's all cultural. I'll bet Humans consider most 'evil' races close enough to animals to be considered food, if they didn't taste... actually, they probably taste a bit like pork, which is what we're supposed to be like.

Tell that to the trolls slaughtered by the elves. Or the orcs placed into concentration camps by the humans.

yes, yes, I've read way to much of the warcraft backstory.

Well, the face of modern fantasy was pretty broadly painted and set by Tolkein... so much so, that less than 2% of most fantasy created since has strayed so much as a hair away from the model he set...(THAT, however is a rant for another day), but the reasoning behind it pretty simple.

It doesen't matter who who your're talking to, they classify everything as "Us" and "them". It's the human way. There's Our country(US) and those 3rd world countries that live in muck and refuse(Them)... or, There's our cultural herritage that finds nobility in poverty(US) and the evil capatilist emprire that wants to destory our National herritage with useless things like fertilerizer, and medical knowledge and hoopskirts(THEM).

Fantasy, like all fiction, has to draw it's parallel to the real world or it's not "realistic"... it dosen't feel right. Most fantasy authors take the simplest route, painting in broad strokes that the bad guys are different from humans, and the humanoids(Humans, elves, even dwarves, gnomes, hobs and the like) are the hereos. The better authors actually paint the situation as it really is... there's no good guys and bad guys, there a alliances of cultures that don't see eye to eye, clash over resources, land, religon, and other factors that have nothing to do with being "Good" or "Evil".

There's precious few of those around...

Moorecock is my favorite fantasy author for that very reason.

*nods* Look at 'the eternal champion', not quite what was meant, but it's a good analogy. Hang on...

...Found it! I have a single-volume series here, by Stan Nicholls which includes 'Bodyguard of lightning' 'Legion of thunder' and 'Warriors of the Tempest'. The main characters are Orcs. They do not eat babies. I suggest some of you read it.
