Actually, the real reason why I had the final "but he wasn't the real Pope, just old man in funny hat." line at the end of the strip was because it just seemed funnier, to me, that Freddy would pick up some crazy old man who went around dressed like the Pope and then have casual oral sex with him.

I think it gives a bit of insight into Freddy's character. S/he's a creature of fun. Everything s/he does, s/he does because it's fun and s/he isn't concerned with how people will judge hir for doing it. S/he met a crazy old man who was dressed like the Pope and s/he thought it would be fun to have oral sex with him so s/he did. S/he wasn't thinking about what other people might think because the guy wasn't terribly attractive. S/he wasn't thinking about what other people might think because the guy was two, maybe even three times hir age. S/he wasn't thinking about what other people might think because the guy goes around dressed like the Pope. S/he was just thinking about how much fun oral sex is and how much fun it might be to have oral sex with a crazy old man who thinks he's the Pope. So s/he did it.

That's why Freddy always has the "genki eyes". S/he all about the fun.
