Today I went to an Anime convention (though there was a lot of non-anime comics and sci-fi stuff) and I saw a guy dressed in a Japanese schoolgirl uniform… If at least he looked like Freddy, it would be kind of OK… but it was an ugly fat guy. Oh, the horror!
On the other hand, I met Martin Nodell, creator of Green Lantern and Sarah Douglas, the bad girl from Superman II.

I only wish I had half his moxie.
For my own reasons, I went to Otakon and Nekocon this year.
Otakon was huge, depersonalizing, in a convention center in Baltimore, and not much fun.
Nekocon was smallish, upclose and personal, in a hotel in the city I live in, and a heck of a lot of fun.

Nope… that’s not the guy. Looks like he got imitators.
This was a convention in Fort Laureldale, about an hour drive from Miami. It was kind of small I think (but I have not way to compare since this is the first one I go) but there was not too many people. I have seen in other places when an actor is signing autographs there is a long line… Here was none. My wife and I stayed like 15 minutes talking to Sarah Douglas, (Superman, Babylon 5, Conan the Destroyer) and nobody else stopped at the table. In the next table, there was the guy from Batlestar Galactica, and nobody was paying attention to him (I think he got pissed off and left early)
Actually, the real Anime was only half the stuff. There was a lot of Star Wars stuff (A couple of guys in complete Stormtrooper armor and a bunch of Jedis) some race cars (from The Fast and the Furious) and even a guy handling pamphlets about legalizing marijuana...
