I'm happy now too.
Are you going to come back and chat some more?
And does your use of "brill" indicate that you're of the English persuasion, or do you just like the word?
I think I only have one other English fan that I know of and he's not here.
Timmerryn.

Howdy fellow Pantheon lover
It looks like the Pantheon now has a British following that equals the Dutch :P
How come the Brits have taken to saying Brill? I hear it a lot these days, but can't figure out 'who started it'. All I know is the Fast Show's "Brilliaaaaaaaaant!".

Hello again. I am indeed of the English persuasion, and I will come and chat endlessly if given the chance.
The Fast Show being "brilliaaaaaaant" is actually a reference to The Fast Show itself. There's a running joke that involves a guy walking around talking in a surreal manner about things being "brilliaaaaant!" I think that may be what started it.
Loki

I've never seen the Fast Show!
Being a Pom, Loki, you must have heard of the Bill. Make history by being the first one of my fans to know what "the old bill" is, please!!
Timmerryn.

That's what I meant, Loki I'm the Netherlands' biggest Fast Show fan :-p
Shame it's never aired here though The best Dutch comedy is...er...well, non-existant.
The Belgians have some good comedy on though, so most of my TV time is spent on either the BBC or the er..whatever the Belgian channel's called.
Oh, and I've never watched the Bill, although I've heard of it

No offense taken
I don't know too many people who watch the Beeb - just me, some friends, and my dad really...we're Comedy Night addicts
I could do the list..Monty Python, Not the 9 o'clock news etc etc but we're a minority really.
All that Dutch TV has really taken over is The Weakest Link. People seem to still enjoy that for some reason
Oh, and *everyone* knows Monty Python :-P

Sorry Joost, didn't mean to be patronising. Wasn't sure quite what was going on...
I do know what the 'old bill' is, but I don't watch "The Bill".
I'm curious now - what other Brit TV shows are watched and appreciated in your respective parts of the world?
Loki

We get heaps of pommy shows on the ABC here in Oz.
The Bill's a regular but we've had lots of other series..
McCallum, Silent Witness, Rebus, Coupling, Teachers (on at the moment), everything from the BBC Natural History Unit (currently The Blue Planet yay!).. Badger.. Oh! Monarch of the Glen (I like that 'un)..
There's more, but my brain's forgotten them. Almost half the shows on the ABC are British. Makes a nice change from the American rubbish on the other channels.
Timmerryn.

That's cool... Um... sorry I can't think of anything else to say. Kinda brain dead.
Can't wait for the next 'tribute to villains' episode though. It has the fantastic Alan Rickman in it - yay! Though here's a question that I have been pondering for a while... why do Americans seem to like casting Brits as bad guys? I don't really object - I watched Prince of Thieves purely for the Sherrif - but it's a wee bit puzzling.
Loki.

Oh wow! I *love* Men in Tights - I can just about recite the whole script! "Because, unlike other Robin Hoods, I can speak with an English accent" hehe... Mel Brooks's films are great - have you seen Dead and Loving It? It's very funny, especially if you've seen the film 'Bram Stoker's Dracular'.
Okay - here's a thought concerning Alan Rickman. I'm a Harry Potter fan and the film comes out here next week. I'll probably go and see it. Rickman's playing Snape... Dilemma!
Loki.

Even better - It's got *two* of the fantastic Alan Rickman in it!
I think the British=evil thing has something to do with the nature of the villains. Those that have those wonderfully evil British voices are usually dark with goatee beards and they're the really smart, calculating evil ones. Scar is a good example of that: his brother and his nephew (who fall victim to his plots!) have American accents, but he's a pom.
My theory is that these villains' English accents just make them that bit more sexy, but I don't know what the motive of straight male American film-makers is in choosing them.
I watch "Prince of Thieves" for the Sheriff too. Boring old Kevin Costner who couldn't even lose his American accent..
That's why "Men in Tights" was so funny.
I watched PoT again recently and I was so annoyed when the Sheriff died. Grrr!
I'd love to be an actor who got to play those villains, but wouldn't it be annoying having to die all the time? I'll bet Alan Rickman is the world's best actor at dying coz he's been so many villains.
Timmerryn.

Mel Brooks rocks
I loved Springtime for Hitler :-P With the ex-stormtrooper who couldn't keep his right hand from saluting...heehee
I think I'll have to dig up Blazing Saddles again...I had the most amazing video collection, but they've all gone missing when friends found out what an amazing video collection I had

[/B]

Yeah, I've got a friend who had the same problem. She said "Grr! AR's playing Snape and I like AR! I don't want to like Snape!" Or something to that effect. Snape is a very silly man.
But we can't wait to see Harry Potter anyway.
I thought it'd already premiered in Britain.. We have to wait til the 29th. My calendar tells me this is still more than two whole weeks away!
Meanwhile, I have exams. *pout*
Timmerryn.

Oh, Joost, guess what?
We've got this new "reality game" here in Oz, though it's on radio and the net, not TV.
It's called "Escape from Pentridge" and they've got these people locked up in an abandoned jail and they do bizarre things to them like making them scrub the courtyard with toothbrushes.. And one guy got a "body cavity search" last night. Sounded very painful.
Have the Dutchies sunk this low yet?

Never seen Fort Bollard..
I think this new game is the weirdest yet.
Soon they'll be getting like that movie about a fictional reality-show where the contestants had to kill each other.
Timmerryn
http://pantheon.keenspace.com

Thankfully, I wouldn't know.
There's Expedition Robinson, about two groups of idiots who have to survive on (wow!) an island, and there's Big Brother: The battle. Which really isn't that much of a battle because I've heard nothing about heavy artillery or even just a small battleship...
Even mentioning these two shows violates my own 'reality-shows-shunning', but hey. People need to know!
This tv season I'll be trying to keep the time they're on my screen below 5 minutes total. So far, I'm on schedule
That prison thing sounds like the old Fort B..er...Bollard (Frenchly pronounced)? Only much more evil. FB was a good show. I liked that show. With that old guy and his midgets

Now that, I would support
The average Big Brother participant will not be sorely missed by society anyhoo Actually, it's what BB: The Battle needs, methinks.

Mwuhahaha!
I saw "The Man who sued God" yesterday. Was quite funny. They put the churches in a position where in order to prove they weren't liable for an "act of God", they had to prove that God did not exist.
And Monsters, Inc. is coming soon. I can't wait to see that. The blue furry monsteris the cutest thing I've ever seen!
Timmerryn.
