Hmm, as long as people are talking about the Final Fantasy movie, maybe I should offer my thoughts here as well (I did already on Geejay's forum to a certain extent

)
I thought the movie was great. I wasn't influenced by the hype (there's only so much television I watch here in Korea, namely NONE), and I wasn't looking for technical perfection. In other words, I went to see FF expecting, quite simply, a great movie.
And I think it delivered.
Sure, the lip-synching was a little off. You can say the same thing about most animes out there. Some of them don't even take the time to animate the lips properly; the last anime title that I saw that had actual lip animation going along with the voices was the Macross Plus OVA. Forget about the ones showing on television nowdays.
And who DARED to suggest that Professor Sid should have died?! Sid NEVER dies! Unless you're playing FF6 and feed him rotten fish...
I thought the ending was great. I loved the death. I loved how they died. It's something to see a guy get shot and bloodied up in a movie, but it's something else to see his very life force get sucked away by a manevolent spirit being. It was... different, and I liked it. Basically, Final Fantasy had a Japanese ending.
That last paragraph was rather morbid, wasn't it? Let me clarify that I liked what they did IN THE MOVIE. I hate death in real life.
Now that that's over, I have many, many things I want to happen in my own comic in the future... like hero deaths! Hee hee hee...
