That is true. Almost nothing is original anymore. It is just the task of the writer to make them look original.
------------------

Shawn - Um, I'm going to eight grade now. I've got a gallery on elfwood, although I'm very picky and I tend to be a perfectionist ALWAYS.
Ah, FMS reminds me of some story I read.. Its similar to it, except the characters are half unicorn blah blah blah.. I think it was called Acorna's people or something.. But FMS is different, there aren't anymore of Saph and the princess' race.. Are they?
[This message has been edited by ~Dragoness~ (edited 08-09-2001).]

Umm, Alice? You know when you said that FMS is like the Dark Crystal? I kind of thought that, too. You know what was running through my mind when I read the comic where Sapheire protects Valera (am I spelling that right?) from that big ol' tree thing and his wings pop out? "Only girls have wings, silly." I remembered that scene from the Dark Crystal, only the roles were reversed. o_0 Freaky, Alice, freaky. If that was your intention, then you did a very good job.
To answer Geejay - I find when I'm writting, I'm constantly 'borrowing' things from stuff that I've read or heard or seen. I try to make it all original, but it's just impossible. It's the illusion of originality I've got to try and shoot for. Hopefully it all works out. And I've got another 140 pages of illusion or so to go...
Thanks for putting up with me

The thing is, I only have this DVD-drive with me here in Australia. I haven't bought my own VHS player yet. The problem with my job is that I may be assigned to a different state anytime and so buying a VHS player and VHS tapes would make it difficult for me to move them around. DVDs are easier. But I not all the DVDs available in the US are available here. Different Region setting and all that crap. O well.
I may think about purchasing a VHS player anyway in the future.
Speaking of old movies, I also want to watch The Princess Bride and the Last Unicorn again. Sigh.
------------------

you can probly find the dark crystal in any decent movie store in the "old" movies section.the labryth too
all of these are good movies and worth seeing if you haven't already seen them.
and makeing an "original" plot is kinda imposable as athuor's have been writing for a couple of hundred years. as a writer it is your job to write your story in such a way as to make the boring old plot seem new and inspired.

It's really just too bad I can't remember Dark Crystal anymore. I was young when I watched it and I only watched it once. Dark Crystal is as foggy in my memory as Labyrinth and Return to Oz and Neverending Story. And I know I loved those films back then.
And Chris, I'm sure you can pull it off. Good luck.
------------------

Dark Crystal!! Wheee! That has to be one of my all time favorite movies! The gelflings are soo cute! However my roommate said the muppets were scary when I forced her to watch it with me. I practically wore the tape out when I was little. (along with the aforementioned Labyrinth and Neverending Story and Princess Bride and The Last Unicorn... and Legends too... throw that in there ^_^ sadly I know all six of those movies by heart.. heh..) Everytime I check in this message board, someone has brought up yet another great movie! What's with this? ^_^ But you know, I was actually thinking not too long ago that the Saph destiny thing reminded me of Jen and Kira (coincidentally my favorite name in the world and I wish it were my name) and how they were the last two of their kind and all. Really kind of amusing that it inspired you. ^_^
I think though that when Saph spread his wings, I was reminded of Escaflowne more so than Dark Crystal. If you've seen that anime you would recal that Van has wings which he keeps hidden, but he reveals them in order to save a brown haired human girl from harm! ^_~
[This message has been edited by ~* Eclipse the Shadow *~ (edited 08-12-2001).]

legend? regretably I've never heard of this movie but all the others I have seen and I liked them so chances are I'd like legend too.
and as to why everyone is comeing up with good movies. my guess is that great minds do think alike and we all recognize quality when we see it.

Legend. Starring Tom Cruise I think. I have a VHS tape of it back home. I may start ordering VHS/DVDs straight from the US. Australia is seriously lacking in nice old titles.
------------------

Ah. I guess Saph wouldn't want a ripped shirt everytime then ^_~
Oh, I've never heard of those movies either <,< If they've been out form a long time, I probably heard of it, but didn't bother. Back then I wasn't as interested in this stuff as I am now ^_^ Although, I did use to watch the W-O-O...
