Versus: The Endless Duel

As explained on today's strip, I'm going to start a new section that should update roughly every two months called "Versus." Modeled after the ol' Grudge Match tucked somewhere on the 'Net but a little more open, this is where general argument posts go. After about a month, I'll put up a poll on a special page and we'll se who defended their point better.The first Versus is going to be very nich

This is truly tangential but Superman had to beat Hulk. Part of what makes many of us hate Superman is that he is completely unbalanced. Legitimately, no one can beat him. Throwing weak arguments like "the Hulk is green" aside, he stands roughly as much chance as that evil Hostess Fruit Pie thief. That's neither here nor there, though. I'm still interested in the Gundam Wing vs. Power Rangers debate. I think I'll end it a little earlier than intended at this rate.------------------

What do you mean Superman beats up the Incredable Hulk. That was based on popularity. I want a rematch. The comics fight was to short. I wanted a mini series of StuporMan VS. The Hulk! GO HULK! HULK SMASH! feww..... glad I got that out of my system. Oh, and Boo Power Rangers, yah Gundam Wing. They would win. Power Rangers power robots aren't nearly as.. umm.... powerful.------------------

You should notify people about this kind of thing at the top of your page. It's just too long. People don't like to scroll down that much. I like the pink ranger. The yellow one too, but not as much as the pink. ------------------

Why isn't it Hulk vs. Superman? That's the one everyone wants to talk about...If you're talking about the old 'the madder Hulk gets, the stronger Hulk gets!' Hulk, then he wins. If it's the pansy smart Hulk, Superman wins.
I've never watched Gundam Wing, and haven't seen Power Rangers for many years, so I'll just go on the record as saying that Goldar rules.------------------

The problem with putting it on top is that I don't want it to detract from the comic. My personal feeling is that I simply have a few silent fans based on the more-or-less lack of posts I've had since Day 1. Dunno why. Maybe it's a fluke, maybe the comic doesn't draw strong responses. Anyway, I'm going to try a different topic at the end of the month to see if the oddball choice is throwing people off.Not before I get my post in on the actual discussion though... (I plan on writing with massive length.)------------------

Wow. Nobody wants to talk about this, eh? I still say Gundam Wing type robots would win. But it may be because I just like them more. The Power Ranger's robots are too clunky anyway. They aren't swift enough to defeat the others. So there.------------------

The reason no one wants to chat is becuase few people who read my strip ever chat. I think I'm up to four or five different people in this board. Anyway... I'm going to present some of my thoughts.I honestly prefer the Gundam Wing program to the Power Rangers program but it seems that the Power Rangers have some advantages that make them the true favorites in this matchup.INVINCIBILITY: The Power Ranger mechs are invincible. How often has anyone seen an episode of the Power Rangers where the Power Rangers lost? Never, right? But imagine you actually watched the show. They only lose when ratings are sagging and if you take the "Classic" Power Rangers, those ratings never sag. Compare that to the Gundam Robots who often have a variable invincibility. Sometimes the armed Oz troops can destroy them. It's weird. Plus, those six guys have itchy self-destruct trigger fingers. If you tried playing Russian Roulette with Heero Yuy, you know he'd pull the trigger six times.GUILT:
Let's face it. The Gundam Wing pilots have more angst than the entire WB primetime lineup. This angst always causes them to have a fight on the field and in their heads. Zechs Marquise is a frickin' schizo, for pete's sakes. "I'm Zechs! I'm Milliardo!" As kiddy heroes the Power Rangers only doubt themselves for a moment but then power up again. In addition whatever happened to the first Power Ranger? That's right. He took a space shuttle to an "Intergalactic Peace Conference." (It always helps to think about something else for several minutes in order to stop the histerical laughing.) Hey, guess who feels bad about downing the plane with all of the leaders of the Alliance heading to a Peace Conference? Could it be the strongest Gundam Wing Pilot?AMMUNITION:The Gundams need ammo. Heavyarms, in particular is terribly vulnearable when he runs out of ammo. The Power Rangers need no ammo because they fight hand-to-hand and use swords and energy weapons.COMBINING 'ZORDS:Wing can turn into an airplane. Oh, yeah, that's really useful in combat. Five ferocious dinosaurs can turn into a giant robot. Whoa!WEAPONS:How 'bout that super sword-gun-crossbow thing the Power Rangers used to use? That's a one-hit kill.FOURTH-WALL VIOLATING WHOOPINGS:The giant 'Zords are men in costumes. The Gundams are small animation cells. With giant foam gloves to shield the actors from paper cuts, they can procede to rip apart the Gundams as though they were as thin as their pilots' backgrounds.The Power Rangers live-action (dialogue) scenes are part of the Westernization. That means while the crew of the American Gundam Wing can change voices every so often the Power Rangers crew can add new scenes on the spur of the moment. Like when those wacky Gundams accidentally bump into that shrinking ray?ZORDON vs. MYSTERIOUS LEADERSAy!Ay!Ay! This one seems close at first. All of the inventors of the Gundams are missing a facial part like noses or ears. Zordon's missing his hair and well... a body.The thing that pulls Zordon way in the lead is his selflessness. I think he let Rina (or whoever) blow him up so that the Power Rangers could gain more power. In addition, the Doctors are always screwing over poor Duo for their own personal agendas. Plus, Zordon has a stable base whereas the Doctors only design mobile suits when they're forced to.FINALLY, FOR NOW, BATTLE MUSIC:Yeah... I've grown to like the Two-Mix Gundam Music, but the song's called "Rhythm Emotion." It's a slow pop song and it's probably about love and dreams and the general understanding of the human population.If there were a "Go!Go!Power Rangers!" song that played when I was in trouble, I would succeed in all my endeavors. Not only is the song cheery but it succeeds in having an uptempo beat that cheers on the Power Rangers.Now you see why I was so Keen on having a Versus section. I enjoy posting oh-so-much.------------------

Damn your logic. With all those points it makes me really belive that the Power Rangers would win. It also makes me want to sing their theme song, and go running aroud pretending to be a giant robot. But that's just me. I'm going to watch The Monster That Challanged The World now.------------------
