300th post.

Postby Somebody Strange on Wed May 30, 2001 7:39 am

Well, I had hoped someone else would post something before now so I could celebrate my 300th post without making it myself, but it seems the onerous burden has fallen upon me.
Yay Somebody Strange! Thanks for posting my 300th post to the message board!
In other news, I'm sorry for the lack of Wednesday and Thursday comics. They will be there soon. It has not been a productive day. I have the comics scripted, but the artwork takes so darn long.
--Strange/Dave
------------------

I'm sorry, Dave. The tune was "We Love Our Lawyers" by Cibo Matto, off of the compilation album "at home with the groovebox". You didn't win the grand prize, but you win this consolation prize for trying!

(1) Sweet, Frodo! That rocks! Thanks!
(2) I have no idea why the "300th post" category is showing up twice. I'm going to delete the other one. If it deletes these posts, I apologize. Then again, if it does, how will most of you know? You won't have read this.
--Strange/Dave
------------------

Out of curiosity, frodoelf, where does one come by a decent copy of Photoshop these days? Having just shelled out an enormous amount of money for Poser, I really don't want to pay the full $700 price tag for Photoshop, and yet neither do I want to go the warez route either. (Hey, if it's as useful as everyone says, they deserve the money.) I see Photoshop Elements an awful lot, but I don't know what features are in it or if that's really worth $100 or so.
Right now I use Paint Shop Pro 4.1 for almost all my image work. It has lots of disadvantages to it but for most tasks it fits the bill, which is more than I can say for anything that went before it. Still things like text art and such are just too difficult to do there. I've tried using a program called GIMP, which is supposed to be sort of a freeware Photoshop Lite, but the penguinheads are stuck on their beloved X-Windows interface and so it's difficult to work with--and beyond that it seems a little buggy, probably from all that stupid interface code.
Advice would be appreciated.
Lummox JR

hmm, i dont use anything photoshop-like besides photoshop, and i hate you for even suggesting it. and by hate i mean love. I don't think there is a way to get a "decent" copy of Photoshop these days without paying the full price or pirating it. http://www.half.com http://www.ebay.com http://www.outpost.com all might have good prices on version 6, which, if i hadnt said it before, makes me feel all *squishy*. you know, in my pants. yeah baby
------------------
