Hey, what Animations are in your "Hallowed Halls"? The COMCS secton issmewhere ese- so stick to animation.I grew up hating Flintstones, and Jetsons, but Scooby was king.Now, I dig on old Sam & Max, Invader Zim, Batman Animated (the OLD ones!), Big Guy & Rusty the Boy Robot. I am planning on getting the Robotech DVD's SOOON!!!------------------

We watch a lot of anime. Outlaw Star was nice, Cowboy Bebop ruled, and Trigun is king, baby.(Now watch Rob derail Dan's thread.)

I watched just about any cartoon that came on, "back in the day". Wasn't too critical back then. I actually prefer a lot of the older cartoons to today's though... cos back then, cartoons weren't made for kids. Now they are. And it shows. Badly.Things have definately wussified over the years. I remember some years ago when they started showing Warner Brothers cartoons on a Monday-Friday basis, but whenever there was a gunshot they would freeze frame and have it happen "offscreen". --As if there were actually any gore there anyway! What, Daffy plugging Elmer's rifle with his finger and then having his beak blown off and his upper-torso covered in spent gunpowder is too traumatic? They don't show any of the good WWII ones anymore either. Even on the collections, you only get the "clean" ones; the ones that don't show the little German/Japanese dudes. Why the hell not? I think it's fun to laugh at Hirohito and Hitler. That's why it was done in the first place... show their soldiers as brainless twits and have a good laugh at their expense. --Don't think they didn't do the same to us. WWII propaganda is a small hobby of mine, and I've seen both sides. Wow, people could get offended! Well... that's what it was meant to do... make fun of people-- back then! It's meant to make fun of the soldiers on the other side of World War II, not today's Germans/Japanese. And yeh know, if some old Nazi wants to complain about it... they can go to hell. How the hell's a friggin Nazi going to make a claim that he shouldn't be stereotyped when their entire platform was about the subjugation of non-whites and Jews? (Although I wouldn't be surprised if he won, the way we've wussified society so far.) Yeh know what, f*** the Nazis, we won.Um... but yeh, anyway, I don't watch much television anymore, let alone cartoons. All I can think of is Zim, and whatever Raka tells me I have to buy (or he'll kill me)..Rae

My current animation favorites are Escaflowne, the english version...Those Who Hunt Elves, for the comedy...and Anastasia.To cross topics, my fave comic of all time would have to be CatWoman (what else?) under Balent. The books between the beginning of the series and Zero Hour were eminently readable, and boy, would I love to be drawn like that. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/wink.gif">
Now comes the obligatory drooling fangirl stuff...I love the way you draw Rae's clothes. Having spent a few years in the Detroit goth scene, I know of quite a few people who would fit in his gear, and all of them kept saying they weren't goths, either. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/smile.gif"> Gawd, the mirrorshades alone are worth searching the archives for...The Lazer War story arc was well-done. I actually first stole the idea from Aaron Holm (who writes and draws <a href="http://www.joeaverage.org">Joe Average</a>, when I noticed his. I didn't even know what "Live Journal" was at the time; only that it looked cool and that I had a web-comic... sort've... and it's an easy way to announce stuff and cross-promote. Mmm... anyway, no permission required.

Seriously, any 'gothiness' I display, I'd rather call being macabre/depressed. To many people (and so, now, to me), "goth" evokes images of the "death clowns" as I call them - the ones who try too hard to look like vampires/"The Crow". They have, like it or not, redefined the word, thanks to excess media misinformation. I'm not going to defend "goth" anymore, because in the end, it means nothing. It's just a word. I appreciate the darker aspects of existance and emotion (mostly in artistic expression), the juxtaposition of "beauty", etc, and I even dig some of the music now and then. --But I don't consider myself part of the scene, despite the dark clothes and trench coat.--Oh, and "wisdom"? Bwah-ha-ha-ha-ha!

I just write about boring crap and whenever the strip comes up.Mindless banter is what keeps forums alive... make a topic; any topic (within reason).... I'm not reserving the use of the forum for discussing the comic. It's convenient for that use, but really, there's more interesting things to talk about.

(Side note: I've also found that posting in the SJ forum every now and then is a great way of promoting.)

Heh heh... Dan's an arachnid at heart (always trying to get me to let him play an Ananasi). Me, I've got a thing for Weaver-spiders, so that's why we try to enforce "order" now and then. I'm admittedly a bit more chaotic though.I do Vampire and Werewolf, myself (primarily Werewolf), but we don't do a lot of LARP. --Basically, if we've got really cool scenes (like a "wake" for a fallen Garou I did once... that was pretty cool), or if we're really bored, or just basically don't want to get dice out, we'll do it, but even then we're not terribly public about it. We usually either do it in a deserted park (late in the day/night) or inside a residence, and nobody really dresses up for it. I'd like to now and then... I even bought two pairs of plastic fangs (werewolf), but I don't think anyone else in the group is into it. --And that would also mean I'd have to wear heals, stockings, and skirt/dress for one've my characters... and I think that'd be just a little too weird for everyone involved. (I don't even want to be a lumberjack....)I'm not the person to ask about artwork though.

I barely know photoshop, and I just play around... I know nothing of color-theory or shape or anything. (Lazer War was colored by Chaodin, who actually has talent, as opposed to me.) Anything that looks really good that I've done has been picked up from Chaodin, GasGiant, or Tall Dan.Um... but anyway, back to the thread: I like older cartoons better than newer ones. There's exceptions, but I think a lot of the newer ones are stupid; particularly the ones written with kids as their target audience.- - -

I will talk about the comic a bit amongst my friends and when I get the inspiration, post a little something on my lj.Funny you should say vampire when you describe the New Goth. That's how I got "in" to gothdom. I'm more gamer than vamp, tho. I'd rather have the sword with the cape than the eyeliner. The goth clubs I have gone to have all been bad copies of one another...Dark places full of empty people with loud music and flashy lights. The bathrooms are enough to make your average Cat cringe, and I'm not a huge fan of blotting out sins and griefs in a bottle.I'd have to say that it was a whole lot more fun wearing my *white* cape to play Vampire. I had thought, when I first saw it, that the black thing in the background was a motorcycle. It fits....sorta. I think I'd have to go back and compare to remember what it really was.The pose is a great action pose. I can almost "see" his muscles straining, but he's still on balance enough to grip his gun. The lettering underneath is a nice post-modern touch. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/smile.gif"> And, since I've been studying tonal values for my painting...I can also say that the tones of the reddish-orange "floor" set off the bright green lettering quite well. The "graffiti" on the wall in the background doesn't do a half bad job of that, either. All in all, a cool thing to have to represent yourself.My icon on livejournal was done by an artistic friend, but the picture in question had to be cut down for me to use it. (Actually, I could use the whole thing, but, not to be ungrateful, most of it is not drawn as well as the face.) People keep asking me if it's my own work. While I find it flattering that they want to compliment it, when I say "no", they seem to get somewhat tongue-tied. It *is* a one-of-a-kind, at least so far... Of course if you liked Tenchi and Evangalion, you need to see Parallel Duel! That and Photon. hey guess what I'm still alive in the forums!!!All the cartoons I watch now are pretty much Anime.(by anime I meant GOOD anime. Trigun, Cowboy Beebop, Outlaw Star, Orphen, Sorcerer Hunters, Bubblegum Crisis 2040 and some others.) Ever since they started running Poke'mon every freaking day I've stopped watching TV for cartoons. I mean there was A time when the WB had good shows Ex. "Freakazoid"(HUGBEES!!!!!) and after about two seasons It's cancled for I think for (I'm not sure) "HISTERIA" now that is just sad.On TV now there is only three cartoons I watch now since I don't have Cartoon network. The Simpsons, Futurama, and Family Guy.

American cartoons used to be good, but then some idiot mothers decided that cartoon violece was wrong. They started boycotting Looney Tunes! Loony Tunes! Buggs and Elmer, who doesn't like Buggs Bunny? What I don't get is why they would boycot it. Didn't half of them grow up with them? Then to top things off, some idiot kid decided to act out something he saw on TV.

Now everything has to be "politically correct" and kid friendly. What the hell is that? Now most american cartoons SUCK!!!

The rest of the world... No one complains. Now on that topic, the Japanese have the best cartoons. They have no one coplaining about content, and the quality is really good. I mean, they just kick ass!

well...the WB stuff IS getting stale. CRAPPILY STALE. Justice League? NO character interaction- BUT new media. Batman Beyond- well it stretched, but not very far (hence didn't "make it good". Heck, I can HANDLE the way Superman was drawm when he first came out...BUT to CHANGE BATMAN?! >( PAH!

And genndy T./ cartoon Network? Massacred Anime does not a "cool anime block" make. Samurai Jack has a little going for it with all the inside jokes, but just keep hoping that they keep shoving all those cartoons we hoped would DIE down our throats so you can have material... I liked PPG when it first came out- it was fresh. But like a music star or bulemic actress that we have nowadays, they should DIE YOUNG WHILE THEY'RE AHEAD!!!
