Should I add a tip jar?

Post by Kev of the Apocalypse »

So I've been thinking about adding a PayPal tip jar to the site. The problem? I don't see how to start one. PayPal gives no information about this on their site, but I've seen it on several other comic sites. Sexy Losers for instance.
I'm not terribly sure why I'd have a tip jar seeing as I have yet to sell a shirt to anyone outside of my circle of friends. Anyhoo, any help on this tip jar thing would be welcome. Thanks

Heh, I've been meaning to buy a shirt. I'm just... lazy. Yes.
And broke.
And I haven't a clue as to how to help you with PayPal. *shrugs*

i have one, but i haven't put it up yet.
was waiting for my new page design.
btw-from what i could see, the new design on the main page is coming along nicely, kev. 8^)

first and obvious, you'll need a paypal account.
go to paypal.com and sign up.

when you get to your main page after signing up loads, notice the blue tabs near the top of the screen. click on the one marked "sell."
there are two catergories here, look under sell on a website and click on Donations.

then fill in the blanks with the info they need, choose a paypal button and they'll give you the code you need. 8^)
hope it helps.

Cat- Don't worry about the shirt thing. I can seldom afford to order one myself. I just figured it'd be easier for people to donate like $5 instead of sinking close to $20 for a shirt.

Kathryn- Thanks for the tip! I'm sick of html right now, so I'll put the tip jar up this weekend.
Notice I finally finished the site redesign! Yay for me!
By the way, how's the next Blue Canary coming?

slow!
i got sick this weekend. *yuck*

so, i decided instead of waiting until the storyline was over to go ahead and next two update be the pages i had in the keenspace spotlight comic they handed out at the comic-con.
this will give me to to re-coop, and hopefully get a couple of strips drawn.

also, i got a illustration/logo commission from my boss at my old internship. can you say freelance work? 8^)
i'll be trying to get this done, too.

*goes to check out the finished site design*
ooo! i like!
doesn't take nearly as long to load as the other did.
this design is simpler which, in my book, is a good thing.
very nice, kev!

Wow! Talk about a double wammy! Sick AND you're already late! I'm sorry to hear that, Kathryn. If you ever need a filler strip or something, just let me know a few days in advance and I could see what I could do.
Congrats on the freelance work, though! Wouldn't mind some side income myself.
Hope you feel better.

See, this is the advantage of having a Guest Week now and then. You can take a vacation without breaking stride with the comic!
Kev gets enough goodies from us to do this a couple of times a year, it shouldn't be hard for other comic artists to do the same..
