Err, Gillikin? "Roman alignment?" I don't know if Emiko knows what you're asking, but I certainly don't. Do you mean Roman lifestyle, civilization, culture, heritage, and so on?
And for the Elves, I was wondering what you thought of modern fantasy portrayals of elves? Not just you guy's personal views, but what the rest of Elfdom thinks of them in general. Oh, and what I mean by 'modern fantasy portrayals' is the kind of stuff you'd find in today's books, games, video games, anime, and so on.
A few I am specifically interested in are D&D's version (not the D&D Movie! Not a bad movie, but really poor D&D mythology there), Lodoss(which is pretty similiar to D&D, actually), a couple different D&D novelists (especially Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman, and R. A. Salvatore), random video games, Shadowrun, Earthdawn, and Mercedies Lacky. As for Weis and Hickman, both their Dragonlance novels and their new 'Stone Well' (at least I think its that. That world only has their one novel and a newerish D20 game so far) are interesting. Mercedies Lacky has a couple different series involving elves, including one that involves Elves in the modern world. Plus, of course, Tolkien, the grandfather of the Epic Fantasy novel.
Any other specific examples you guys especially like or dislike are good too, of course. No need to heap derision on popular American culture's idea of Santa's elves, though; they earn that enough on their own . . .
Unless of course you just want to say that Pete of Sluggy Freelance has a really funny version of them. Not to mention Bun-bun's black-op elves.
Cerillian, aka that guy who reads way too much
