Do you have any further evidence to support the sham-edness of the Oscars? Share it here.
------------------

Hey! Benecio won! They can't be that bad.
'cept for that whole Julia Roberts/Gladiator winning. And Martin was name dropping too much.
------------------

Yeah, but at least most of what martin said was name ripping, he was cool 'cause he was mean.
I now know for sure that all a movie has to be to win best picture is bad. The last good movie to win in that catagory was Unforgiven, and I think it was more than a win, but a statement of what the Academy would become like in the following years, Un-friggin'-forgiveable.
Russell Crowe, best actor for Gladiator?!?! What the...a year to late, me thinks. You really want to see him act, rent the Insider, not some Roman, Braveheart rip-off, piece-o-crap.
Here's some good movies for ya:
Fireworks,
Miller's Crossing,
Blood Simple,
Kikujiro,
Solaris,
Fight Club,
Magnolia,
Barton Fink,
Ed Wood,
Dead Alive,
Big Trouble in Little China.
~Caleb

------------------

Bah, the Oscars have been a sham for years now. Martin Landau over Samuel L. Jackson, my ass. While I can't hate Martin Landau, cause he was Rollin Hand and Rollin was the man in the Mission: Impossible days (now THAT was a show), I can, and do, transfer that distain to the academy. The boycott continues....
oh and Miller's Crossing is soooo overrated. And magnolia just rambled. It was like sitting on the bus next to an old lady telling me about her cat. It just goes on and on and on about unimportant and trivial things and when it's over you can't even be happy it's over with, you're just in a vague state of shock about the banality of it all.
------------------

That's what's so cool about movies, everybody walks away with a different take on 'em. I just think Magnolia had a lot more to say than American Beauty ( Now that was an overrated, trivial movie ) and did it in an original , fasinating, and well acted way. Just like Dark City is a million times better than that horrible Matrix crap.
~Caleb

Yeah, it's kind of sad that Dark City sort of faded into relative obscurity. It was all anyone could talk about for a while, then nothing. Not even like, cult-classic status. I saw it again on TV the other day, but I hadn't even thought about it in years. Much better than The Crow, I thought. And much more deserving of recognition. Ah well.
------------------
