About the site rework...

Frames are all well and good, but I dunno about having ALL of them put stuff in frames. You might want to consider adding a TARGET="_top" property to the tag for the forum link - and any offsite links, really. Otherwise people will be stuck in your frame if they click out.
Hey... wait a sec, the Links button already does that. My bad. Still, it might be appropriate for the forum, too.
Additionally, you might want to give your index.html a title. I presently am writing this in an "Untitled Document"...
And a random observation(how apt), based on this strip: Random's cute. Mind you, I think Sami(especially in his skater outfit) and Mars are cute too. *shrug*
------------------

i did all of that withing an hour of eachother so i don't know how that could still be a problem. I'm having no trouble navigating my site, but it's true, going to outside sites keeps the frame, i will be fixing that soon(as much as it can be fixed...).
its only a first try(incase things need changing) but thanks for the heads up!

quote:

ok, but because it's a minor thing, i'll do it when i get a breather here.

because this topic is on site design, on my monday update i'm going to be adding a background. it's only a test and is by no means the final background. what i want to know is what type of background do you want? white? faint character profiles(like funny farm)? black? somthing else? tell me all!

When I recall right, it has usually a Monday/Wednesday/Friday-shedule.
At the moment it's less because of a Zilford-x in stress, right?

And Frames...well, can't help it, I'm more a fan of tables.

I'd prefer seeing a dark background, I always get the feeling it's better for my eyes when there's a contrast between it and the strip. So the one you have at the moment is already quiet okay. Oh, but a suggestion I got: how about cutting the sites of the strip a bit more, to get rid of the black bar?
P.S: You know, the grin of Sami in the last panel of todays strip is just great!
I had laughed more about it then about the punchline...

thanks for the suggestion, i might try some different stuff... i just like using the frame because it lets people both see the navigation, AND read my main page update(you DO read that, don't you?!? really, check there, I update that more often than my comic...) oopsy about the black bar... I'll get rid of the entire white background behind the pic tonight...

oh man that's great!
from reading different comic forums, it seems that characters expressions are peoples favorite thing(though, extream ones in moderation... you won't see a grin like this on random for awhile)
i was really hoping that people would like that
funny thing about this strip is that i didn't think of the punchline untill i had drawn the 6th panel... seat of the pants writing. ah well...

Oh, I knew about the M-(W-)F schedule. What I meant about "When does it update" is what TIME it updates, typically, if there's a set time. (For instance, I think Gene Catlow is set to update at 1AM PT; of course, he might have several days of strips uploaded at any given time.)
Sami's cute too. (But I knew that before.) And both punchline and expression are just precious. He's also starting to look more and more feline.
One thing I like about your strip is that fur is always there. Random and Sami both look genuinely fuzzy, even when not spooked out of their minds. (Compare The Class Menagerie, where fur is less obvious unless the characters are freaking out. While this DOES make for more contrast... I like seeing the fur. )
------------------

What I've been wondering, is the Update of the picture at Keenspace/spot automatic?
Cause every day around 10 am my time, I observed the majority of comics hosted there to change the strip.
But some don't fit this, do they update later manually?
Or am I on a wrong trail here?

I know for a fact that the update can be automatic, because people can upload a bunch of files, disappear for a week, and their comic will run as normal.
However, I don't think this is always the case. People who upload their strips at the last minute don't want their page going freaky on them... Of course, in the absence of a newer pic, the scripts might just stay with the most recent.
------------------

I'm glad you like it as well! I'm also glad he's looking more feline to you all. I used to draw him like I drew kevin(of Class Menagerie fame) but recently i've changed to a rounder muzzle and rounder ears, both to separate my style from Vince's and to make him more feline lookin'

quote:

Thats how i like my animals too... i always look for places i can add tufts of fur, usually on the neck, cheek's and sometimes arms('specially elbows) I always worry they look to fuzzy(like they've been through a dryer :P ) and not just soft and furry, so i'm glad that I'm getting a positive response on this.
