ok... it takes a lot to piss me off. i just don't understand why the people who need health insurance the most just cannot get it. health insurance companies wont cover you if you have this or have that or whateverthehell and yet our politicians wonder when they see statistics that show the sick or less affluent have lower longevity statistics. its because they just cannot afford to go to a god damned doctor at $40 just for an office visit!!! these health insurance companies are run by penny pinching pricks who could not care if your (insert loved one) has a disease (genetic or contracted) because they don't have to witness that indivudal slowly degrade into a shadow of ourselves. you know what, there is fucking public outcry in america when there are "human rights violations" in other countries but we cannot even cover our own asses in that matter. in my opinion the right to see a doctor in an affordable manner should definately be one of these human rights. and by that rationale, these fucking companies rape many of us over day in and day out. for once lets get out heads out of other countries asses and focus on making sure our own people (in this case americans since i know our neighbors, the candaians, have affordable healthcare for everyone) are healthy. i am so fucking sick of it.
------------------

This is NOT a shameless plug for my strip. I just thought it might amuse you. And in the end, that's all I can really hope to do...

I really like your stuff Lee... plus you have a really intersting (and cool) creation method. The creation process and the texture to the actual comic makes it one of the few comics that I think could stand-up under an art school submission process. Frequently those people on submission boards seem to snub comic art, not really seeing it as "art" (although, my argument is that if the artist intended it as art, then it's art). Your use of masks, daubing, etc... lends more weight to that type of consideration than normal pen and pencil comic art, in my opinion. That's not to say that traditional cartooning is bad (hell I do it), it's just to say the elitist art types would pass me up for admission over you if both of us only submitted our comic work as a portfolio .

Well, the elitist art types can bite us both.
I'm glad you like it though. This is actually the first time I've used that technique for cartooning. I use it quite a bit in watercolor illustrations for children's stories, but I thought what the hell, I'll try it on Chopping Block, and it's gotten a lot of positive feedback. I'll admit to having begun the technique while trying unsuccessfully to mimic the genius style of Lane Smith ( http://www.chucklebait.com ).
The hairy ass in the 3rd frame of "Pepe the Pinworm" made me simultaneously retch and laugh out loud. As sensations go, I don't recommend it. But it was very funny.

------------------
