I just drew this sketch in the light cast by my monitor in a dark room. I think it turned out okay considering, so it's time to play a game...

Can you guess who the cutie is?

http://www.furnation.com/onissarle/oni_cutie.jpg

On a completely unrelated note (honestly it is, really), what exactly is Karma? I haven't seen it mentioned or specified anywhere. I know I've seen her coloured yellow and one pic had here dancing with headphones, if I remember correctly, there were spots on her tail... so my shot in the dark goes on Karma being a leopard gecko. Any better ideas? Anyone actually know?

Frogs do have tails, occasionally. Every now and then there's a 'throwback' that doesn't metamorphose completely and keeps some tadpole traits, such as a tail (not a full-sized one, though).
Happens mostly in Hylidae (tree frogs), too. A lot of people believe it's connected to pollution...so...you might be a giant toxic mutant frog-thing .

Giant toxic mutant frog thing? Depends on who you talk to. Let's ask the public!

My dad -- "She is NOT a frog! I wish she'd stop with these goddamned perverse animal fantasies!!" (overheard him saying this to my mom one morning when he found my furry sketchbook)

Dave -- "Only in the morning."

Kerri -- "No, she's a smurf-fucker!!" (thank you Kerri)

*cough* I dunno....she has a tail and she's a frog, we'll leave it at that  I figure if foxes can walk around on two legs and talk, I can have a goddamned tail >=)

You know, there's actually people out there who would have reacted quite violently to that comment of mine and I half expected a banning for this...Seems I guessed right in the 'sense of humor' department .

Although I do believe that three people doesn't quite constitute a statistically significant sample...

Now boys and girls, that's why I kept my pads well hidden when I lived with my folks. Now I live with two hopelessly perverted dragons, one of which is a rather good draconic artist (just look at http://www.ssthisto.com to see what I mean about being perverted) so I can leave furry porn lying around the house. I even have a framed prismacolour drawing that is more than slightly adult sitting on my computer desk.

Anyway, enough babbling. What is the general opinion? Should I ink and colour this pic or go back to the drawing board and try for a better one?

Then learn, it takes less time than you think. As I just mentioned in some other thread. I only started drawing three years ago and only started cartooning in this way a month and a half ago.

Oh how I sympathise! Grrrr... Damn artistic people... Make me so envious...

Meh, I'm not one for furry pr0n myself so I leave my sketchbook lying around all the time. Even if he did find it and have a flick through it's doubtful he'd be able to decipher what the blobs are

Anyway, he started it so he can't complain! What with those furry hand puppets, making things talk and bringing me up on a good diet of Sonic the Hedghog and Talking skulls... I'm still wondering about that whole talking skull thing, and I thought they were cute... o.O

P.S. Colour is good. Colour is good.

It's not that simple, Onissarle. I've tried. I've taken courses, everything. I tried to learn how to draw in various ways...school instructors, 'helpful' books, learning by watching a friend draw and having him explain the technique to me step-by-step...

I just can't. It's as if the bit of the brain that's normally responsible for artistic talent of any kind didn't exist in me. No drawing, no painting, no sculpting, no music, no poetry. You have to have some kind of talent in order to be able to learn how to draw, and I don't have any. I can see the images clearly, I can hear the music I want to play, the songs I want to sing...it's all there, in my head. But I can't get the images on to paper, or play the notes right.

That's why I get really, really violent urges around artists sometimes. Especially when they go around -as many are in the habit of doing- calling their stuff 'inferior' and 'worthless'. I'd kill for having a millionth part of the talent that the worst artist on the internet has. Envy? Yeah. Definitely. Bitterness? Damn right.

By all means, go ahead and color it. It's beautiful, and it's so far beyond anything I could ever hope to achieve that it nearly makes me cry to see you call it a 'sketch'.

Same situ here. Ever read Megatokyo? I have around the same level of artistic talent as 'Shirt Guy Dom'... You know, the guy who does those filler strips with the badly drawn stickmen

Shirlee Mouse? Hmmm - another name I recognise from assorted sources.

Quite a little community you have here. Especially on this board. Fascinating. *rubs chin thoughtfully*

Heh - sorry, just thinking out loud. Always been fascinated with the rapidly growing furry scene.

I personally like the way Dave draws some of his char's  Having the 'unknown' species here and there. It just adds more to the story. Also helps alot seeing as how when I write I use way to many rodents. (Mice, squirrels etc..etc..) I got complaints from people demanding I put more foxes wolfs dragons etc..etc..You get the idea..
