An American researcher who believes she has found the final resting place of Jesus Christ, is campaigning to exhume a body at a Muslim shrine in Indian-administered Kashmir for scientific tests.

Suzanne Marie Olsson, a New York-based researcher is currently in Srinagar, Kashmir's summer capital, studying the Muslim shrine of Rozabal.

While Muslims say Rozabal houses the tomb of Yuza Asaf, a Muslim saint, many researchers believe it contains the body of Jesus Christ.

To put an end to speculation, Ms Olsson has suggested exhuming the remains at Rozabal for DNA testing and carbon dating.

"This will trace him to his origin... and resolve the raging controversy over the identity of the place forever," she said.

Ms Olsson has already dug up a shrine at the Murree hill station in Pakistan under the supervision of archaeologists Ahmad Hassan Dani and Saida Rahman.

Murree is believed to be the resting place of Jesus' mother, Mary.

"The exhumed remains have been sent for the DNA testing and the report is awaited," she said.

"Now Rozabal holds the key.

"If the remains there are sent for testing and then tallied with the results of the Murree project, it will either establish the link between the two shrines as being of similar origin and thus authenticate the Marium-Jesus theory or prove it wrong for good."

However, her project has run into trouble with the managers of the Rozabal shrine, who are strongly opposed to its "desecration".

"We will never allow it," said Mohammed Amin, one of the managers.

Not that I'm big on religion... but who the hell does she think she is?

Its not a new concept. People have been trying to prove the physical mysteries of popular religion for some time, especially the Shroud of Turin.
Don't forget that Jesus Christ is not just a religious figure, he is also a historical and philosophical legend, and as such is up to as much scruple as King Tut or the Ice Man. I'm sure if the ancient egyptian lineage was still prominent today, people would be saying "Digging up King Tut, who do they think they are?". But they are all dead, and noone cares any more, in a religious sense.

I don't see why digging up the grave would be so bad. The Bible says Jesus rose into Heaven, so if their faith is so strong, they should have faith that Jesus's body isn't in the grave.

The people that own the site aren't Christian, they don't believe in Jesus. It is thought to be the burial site of a muslim saint. Desicrating the tomb would be worse that torching St Paul's cathedral driving a bulldozer through Notre Dame. Digging up the body and violating it would be, to them, like someone digging up one of your dead relatives and practicing necrophilia is to you... only worse because it is a fundamental part of their religious beliefs.

Personally, I think they should let the dead rest in peace. If everyone just respected other peoples religious beliefs and rights rather than trying to impose their religions on each other, the world would be a much better place. So many terrible things have been done in the name of god, now it seems science is set to do even worse.

What I want to know is what in the hell does she have to compare DNA to? What good would DNA testing do if you don't have anything to compare it to?

Who wouldn't want to get some (god-gene) in their hands. Think about the possibilities.

That's though only, if there's anything difference in DNA.

Hmm, if they find God's DNA, can they clone him? Now, why does that remind me of something...?

Couldn't one say that Eve was a sort of clone of Adam?

Funny you should mention NGE here...when somebody on another forum tried to describe the emotional impact of Jack he likened it to the last four episodes of NGE .

(Note: The writer of NGE was off his antidepressants for several months when he wrote those eps. It shows. A lot. Don't ever watch a NGE marathon if you value your remaining shreds of sanity.)

I watched the whole serie, including the movie in a quite fast pace. It REALLY was a weird experience. About the things what started to happen there at the end of the whole of it I started to feel myself a bit depressed too  But worst of it is it left eventually the ending totally unanswering what finally happened ??? I see those two characters on the beach and that's it..?!??!

You are talking about 'Neon Genesis Evangelion' right? Cause otherwise I'm wasting my bandwidth downloading it with gnucleus

Yup. The anime that starts out as a pretty typical 'giant robots vs. evil monsters' and ends up becoming...well...something else.

Yes. Just that serie. In the format I got it there was 26 episodes and movie, though the movie could be considered as 27&28. Worth to see, definetely. Nice to see christian mythology used as freely in fiction as hollywood is used to use egyptian or celtic etc mythologies

You could also legitimately buy it at any store specializing in movies. (no, blockbuster doesn't count)
