Completely out of line...

Katie recieved the following E-mail in her personal acount that is an example of one of the few things in life that really get to me."Dear Miss Popp,As a fan of David Hopkins' comic, Jack, (he is your boyfriend, I presume) I felt that I needed to write you as well. I've been very intrigued with his work and followed it animatedly for the past couple of years but your presense in his life troubles me. Now don't get me wrong! I'm not saying that you can't be with David, but I question your motivations. For one, its a bit puzzling that when he's so successful you always shoot him down with obnoxious posts to his board and fan art that openly mocks his characters. It seems to me that you are "along for the ride". What do I mean by this? You seem to have made your appearance by his side right
when Jack started to become successful. You are jealous of what he can do and that people love him for it and so you see a need to constantly shoot him down instead of helping him along. You want to be known as his girlfriend for the sheer namedropping value. I don't know your relationship personally, but its what I gather from what I see of you two. He's constantly supportive of you and

I'm not saying that it is not all right to criticize me or Katie, but this person didnt include a responce adress so one can only conclude that he is atempting to slander and hurt instead of criticize. Katie was with me well before I started Jack and in fact it was her idea for me to apply to keenspace in the first place. I doubt seriously that any of us would be here if not for her.Other things of this type include people telling her what a complete asshole/nut job I am without having the decency/balls to insult me in person.I understand that leading a semi-public life we can't avoid getting these types of run ins, but I do hope that this will help avoid such things in the future.TTFn

What sickens me is that the f*cktard that wrote that will probably reply in this thread with a 'I can't believe someone did that' type of response...David, that e-mail didn't have a return address, but what did the headers say? Where'd it come from?

the asshole wrote from ihateu2@donotreply.com which, if memory serves, is an anonymous mail server. I've tried to reply to things at donotreply.com before and they've bounced back at me. The subject read simply "Just a thought". I highly resent this. I can't TELL you how much I fucking resent this. First it was the scattered fans who were looking for David on AIM and ICQ becoming offended that I was on instead and that he wasn't home (oh god forbid we have lives) and now THIS shit. *ahem* Alright, I promised myself I wouldn't rant here....but if the asshole that wrote that message is reading this, I don't know what your aim was...if it was to get me to see the "error of my ways" or if it was to try and convince David that our relationship was a crock....but neither of those notions worked. donotreply.com is part of the "Evilemail" service, where I got my sillymotherfucker.com address. Normaly I'd agree with Andrick and you can be sure any other comunications this might bring will not be responded to.However, this is not the first time this has happened and no matter what we do it wont be the last. This topic was more created to express to the general public my opinion of this type of attack.

Hey Katie.. look at it this way. In some sick annoying way, this is really a compliment. The message sent was pretty inflated and silly. Which is obvious. But apparently, to this person, this strip is solid gold, and they think so highly of it that they think (dementedly) that you're trying to 'rise to the top' on David's back. Well... it's obvious that you're trying to raise to wherever on David's whatever (ahem) but that is beside the point.
Lucky you, you're so popular and successful that you are now attracting the attention of the great lobotomized masses (with remailers). Enjoy it. And if worse comes to worse. Just delete the E-Mail and be done with it.
What are they going to do? Wave their impotent little fists in the air and piss themselves? Feh.
They're a turd waiting to be flushed, and giving all this as much attention as it has been getting is really kinda silly too. It ain't worth the time it takes to worry about it.

I will just say this... Being the girlfriend of a man who is in need of constant supporting, I know what Katie is feeling like. I sometimes get misjudjed, and am often criticized for my ways of supporting. This certain "fanboy/girl" if obviously one who has WAY WAY WAY too much time on his/her hands. Katie, you are awesome. Don't let anything anyone says get you down. I have said it before and I will say it again... Thank you Katie for helping David to become what he is! When Buster told me about this this morning I was really mad. I mean really angry. Granted I was more amused than angry with the whole joke post Buster did about Dave, but I really try and be friendly to the majority of people on this board, even if some of them are thick as bricks. Dave is a dear friend, and even though I have not gotten a chance to meet Katie anyone that makes Dave happy is a wonderful person in my book.
Anyway, Buster really has summed up my feelings on this issue. Its a pity no one can track this bastard down. He attacked the most important thing in Dave's life, whomever did this obviously cares nothing for Dave's work or his happiness. People like this make me sick beyond all reasonable belief.
I'm going to stop now, because in my mind the line between this idiot and all the rest of the idiocy I've seen on this board is blurring. So before I say "I hope you all die for being idiot fanboys who think they know Dave and what's best for him", I'm just going to go away now and hope that this never happens to Dave or Katie again.
If I've offended anyone well I'm sorry, but not very much. Every time I see a post speculating on what Dave is really like through analyzation of his work I get ill. In all honesty Buster knows Dave better than me, he introduced us some years back and mostly because I'm an anti-social bastard who tends to get caught up in his own work we lost touch. So I wouldn't even presume to speculate ANYTHING about Dave, or Katie for that matter. And neither should ANY of you. The man has given you the greatest gift anyone can give another group of people; their vision, their dreams, their hopes and fears. All out on the printed fucking page for you to read. At no cost to you, at no gain for him. Grateful? You should lick his fucking boots.
OK, maybe that was a bit over the top. But it sounded pretty good, and got my point across. Bottom line: Dave is a good guy who is generously sharing his talent with you. More importantly I probably shouldn't be opening my big mouth and agitating the situation any more than it already is. But its pretty simple, if the above doesn't apply to you, then please discard. Thin skined? no worries there mate, I went to a school where the value of one's ass was more important than the brightest students future. What I mean by this, is that the school I wet to for five months, sorta like a bording school where councelors had absolute power and what they said goes. Sure, that is fine by me, but MY councelors where currupt, one councelor who I have no trouble naming, Greg was a paranoid drill sergeant wannabe. He would mock my friends weight (he was a hefty fellow), the way he talked, the way he ate and just generaly anything to give that sick bastard a infantasimal sense of power. Another, a total control freak who even though is wrong is right type of ladie who regarded all under her care as inferior and where fair game to her sick twisted whimes. I had digestive problemes once (I wont go into details), and had to use the John passed curfew, she caught me coming out of the Wash room and totaly freaked! next thing I know my curfew was rolled back an hour and she still was flipping out! I ended up shooshing her wich pissed her off even more, I know if I cussed her out it would give her presisely what she wanted, areason to get rid of me, cant touch me for shooshing. That night as I lay in my bed, I smilled and felt a slight sense of amusement... it hit me, I didnt care anymore. What she would say would hold no meaning anymore, I didnt care, I had snaped. Oh, I care if someone is patient and will talk things out without screeching at the top of their lungs, THAT I still care for, just things dont bother me as much anymore. God, so many things come to mind, most range on the retard borderline and where so unesesary.I'm rambling, feels good to get this shit out though, unessary baggage. <IMG SRC="http://www.keenspace.com/forums/eek.gif">!!!
