I couldn't help but be reminded of a scene from the old B-classic 'The Last Starfighter' when the big Kodan battleship with the inevitable one weak point was about to blow. When asked what they were going to do, the commander flipped his gratuitous little eyepiece down and answered, "We die." I just thought that was the coolest thing ever as a kid, fresh with the fear of my own mortality, seeing this alien guy face impending demise without fear of his own.
I would have jumped. With a running start, ideally, to bank on the infinitesimal odds of reaching another building before the ground and saving a few stories in the off chances of surviving the impact. If nothing else, at least I'd have a great view. If presented with the luxury of a choice, I'd be the master of my fate, even if only to steer it towards a death of my own choosing.
