I thought the barbs were to stimulate ovulation or something?
Canines have the knot, which is to keep the female from running off. Some insects have sperm-scoops on the end of their penis. The shape of the tip in humans is supposed to cause sperm plugs to disloge (sp), making it easier for the current male to impregnate the female. Also they've noted sperm that seek out other males' sperm and attack it, ensnaring them in their tails. Lets not forget a dolphin's prehensile penis. It can move around like a tongue and is pretty strong. Just imagine having that tool to use on your mate.

I remember now. I remember how it started.
I can't remember yesterday, I just remember doing... what they told me...

Hehe, kangaroo's have prehensile penisses (or is that penii) too.
In my mercifully brief career as an intern at the zoo, me and another keeper were raking up leaves into piles when I looked back, and the male was humping the leaves.
The zookeeper told me they always did that.
It wiggled...
Snakes have two penii, so do some lizards I believe. Birds don't have any at all, they just have a cloaca.
