We've been trained to these responses by society. We've been so inundated by 'death to Barney' things that either conciously or subconciously, we're following the pack.

Humans are pack animals, we follow the strongest, because that's how our ancestors survived.

So because of all of the cartoons about kangaroos and their pouches, we have that mental image of them.

<Bart> Eewww, it's not like in cartoons!
<Homer> Yeah, it's all mucousy!

heh.

Anyhow...it's part of being human. We're easily trained.

*Sigh* I never did follow others well, first thing I think about kangas is that they can kick... hard.

I'll think of a good one later.

I always think of the massive leg power of Kangaroos.
And these aren't worldwide 'rules', these are very western civilization rules.

No matter how bad things are, no matter how grim things look, there will always be someone telling you to look on the bright side or a similar cliche.

Kill them quickly and painfully and use their death as an example.

At parties, no matter how depressed you look, someone is bound to ask: 'Isn't this fun?'

Oh! I get that one! Usually I get the "It could be worse line!"

And I get this one too!!!

Also, I was too general before and I apologize. I implied world wide, but I meant wide spread. Damned overexaggerating way of speaking! Sorry for the inconvinience.

Every time something bad happens to someone else and you say "I don't care" someone replies with "What if it happened to you?"

I like to reply to that one with something along the lines of "Then I'll deal with it as the situation warrants, as usual."
I'm quite dont-carish, myself.

Mother always used to greet "I don't care" with:
"Don't care was made to care;
Won't care was hung"
Irritating; as is the comment "There's loads of people worse off than you"
So, I should go find one of these unfortunates to laugh at, should I?
