Anyone heard of this comic? It's down-right SCARY. And it doesn't even use anything super natural. It's a western comic written and illustrated along with a team, by Garth Ennis. His characters consist of crazy-ass, ugly-ass motherfuckers. For example, one guy named "Arseface" who tried to commit suicide by shooting himself in the face, but survived... And another that's stuck in my head, named "Fuckface". He has one lidless eye, one nostril, a tiny mouth blocked by one white tooth with rolls of flesh connecting any would-be chin to the rest of his chest and neck, making it look like a huge stump. His head is all bumpy and he has a buzz cut. Down-right scary.

Nothing supernatural?
One of the main characters is a vampire, and another has that spooky voice-of-god thingie! And that's not even mentioning the Saint of Killers!! (talk about fucking scary!)

But yes, it's probably the most intense comic I've ever read and it's fucking brilliant.

I was disappointed, but then I probably expected too much, and too little as well. For the most part, it seems to be no more than an overabundance of grotesqueness, slung about in all directions.

But then, what the hell do I know?
"Do Impure thoughts count?" "No, only acts of will."
"What about acts of ineptitude?" "A grey area, and don't tell me you haven't lived in that twilight before."
"Most of my life... Not that I haven't leaped up into the blinding light of competence now and then. It's sustaining the altitude that defeats me."

Well, the only story so far where I see that God gets "killed"...

Oops! Sorry; didn't meant to spoil...

I don't hate Preacher because its shocking, I don't like it because thats all it tries to be. If its your thing tho enjoy by all means.

Jhoney The Homocidal Maniac on the outside is dark and twisted humor but on the inside has a number of pshycological tones. Its humor comes from dark truths in life. When Jhoney postponds killing himself to watch the comercial where the family get the shits, its mainly funny, but on a slighter level it speaks of how easily we are distracted in life. All good humor is just another way of speaking truth. Jhonen Vasquez who draws Jhoney tells his truth in his own dark meaningfull way.

Johnny the Homicidal Maniac isn't all that offensive, but it sure is funny!

I'll have to disagree  Preacher really revolves around the relationships between Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy, and the journeys that each of the characters must make. I think the 'shock' aspect exists primarily to heighten the moments of poignancy (much the way they seem to work in your comic too, David) and I think it works brilliantly, (as it does in Jack as well).

But hey, that's just my take.
