I'd also like to point out that dispite all these pickings we've done and editorializing... this comic, by itself, was DANG funny for me. Just mentally picturing it still gives me the chuckles now and then. Most of the real problems that have come up aren't really issues with this comic, but instead tuesdays, since alot of Alex's stewing wasn't set up as much as it could have.

Well, yeah. I was feeling more or less unqualified pride for this comic until it actually aired. I honestly think some of my mistakes are coming from the fact that I'm doing consciously a lot of the things that for Umlaut House I just subconsciously let happen. Looking over the old Umlaut House strips, I see a lot of sophistocation that I didn't realize was there. Now that I'm doing a lot of the functions (deciding what story arc happens next, who falls in love with who, etcetera) with a conscious, directed effort at showing specific themes and ideas, I'm screwing up more because before I was subconsciously emoting on various topics without even realizing it, so I was always thematically consistent.

Andrick, I'm really glad to hear that you're enjoying the comic again; I'd made up my mind not to try and change it just to win your approval, but your coming back does make me feel like the Quilt Cocoon storyline properly conveyed that Rhonda is more of a "big sister" to Pierce than a tormentor, although she does at times take things too far. (I don't know if it's been fully communicated, but Rhonda's self-congratulation over Pierce's eye twitch as well as her apparent pride in ruining Pierce's fun were both self-deprocating humor. She knows she's a menace, but she doesn't usually let it bother her, whether that's exactly a good thing or not. It's a definite character flaw on her part that she likes stirring up trouble, but on some level she -does- know she's not exactly being nice in these cases. When I wrote the Quilt Cocoon strips, I wasn't writing in any character dynamics that I hadn't already concieved were there. I was just pointing my camera where they'd be seen to correct for the fact that I hadn't put them on display before.

Erf. I originally meant to just do my Grammar Nazi thing and scamper off. Really I did. ^^;

I don't think I made it clear enough that I, like most everyone who's posted in this thread, really did like Friday's comic. *hugs Allan*

And I'm afraid my little rant came across as a bit more critical than I intended. I honestly am curious to find out what would be the consequences of one of the characters coming out to the whole school. Or, much more likely, being unintentionally outed to the whole school at the culmination of some sort of madcap hijink.

Gotta love those madcap hijinks.

So when would a dramatically right moment be for Pierce to come out? I'm figuring giving a graduation speech, or at some kind of musical event. Or blind drunk, though that'd be somewhat cruel storywise, which means we'll probably see it.

And on another note, I am so sorry about the random Photoshop silliness in the attachment down there. I couldn't help myself. And I'd like to say: If I click the anti-alias toggle for the text tool, I expect anti-aliased text! Is that too much too ask? Is it?

I actually thought a good time for outing would be this very moment. Take this exact frame, freeze it, change Alex to have a bit more shocked of an expression... and then slowly start pulling back, showing them being in the caffeteria or library, and everyone staring at them. Given what Pierce jsut screamed, not too many conclusions could be reached.

One of the reasons I've been shutting up on these discussions is that I know the answers to all of these questions.

I think I'll go back to my usual Sphynx-like mysteriousness concerning upcomming plot.
