I was more caught off guard by the sister's name, Lain? Allan are you making obscure anime references again? Also, he was oggling a muscular person, is she so brawny that Pierce might have confused her for a he? The smug look on his face leads me to speculate so. Then again he may be in shock at the sight of a woman taking down a typical football playing male.

Actually, I think that's a non-sequiter.

I've done a little character count and then started comparing character demanors and actions. It was after Tuesday's comic that I had this notion swimming in my head but it was today that it solidified with my prior observations. Every female character thus far is bold and aggressive. Eliza is physical and adventurous. Rhonda is brash and callous/insensitive. New girl (Lana?) is forward and vocal. I was actually feeling sorry for the Pierce's emasculation until 21 Oct's comic. Allan's playing with gender role-reversal.

Lain's sister is named Alice. I had to insert a comic at the end of this sequence last night because I realized I hadn't given a name.

My playing with gender roles is pretty un-intentional; I just designed characters that appealed to me. So far only Pierce could be described as "demure" and this is temporary. Very few of the characters have had a chance to get terribly deep so far.

Lain is an anime reference, although I very much appreciate Andrick's intimation that it could be a Superman reference. Note that Alice in Wonderland is very similar in some ways to Serial Experiments: Lain. I like to think of it as being more Cal and Amanda's reference than mine.

Oh, and there's no way Pierce could've mistaken Alice for a guy. She's stacked like a last meal at IHOP.

Once again we have managed to get Allan to reveal future character information.

As for Alice, I hope she never finds this thread; last time I commited that level fuax pas I wound up with my right cheek bruised, I never thought that getting slapped could ever leave such a lasting impession. Hah, the double entonda curse strikes again. Oh dear God This is truly pitiful, I'll stop now before I hurt myself.

And, dammit, I didn't mean to let Alice's name slip early, but eh.

We forgive you for being so succeptible to our prying ways, Allan. But clarify one thing for me now that this is all in the open, is my brawny theory ill founded or will we be shown the truth soon?

"Demure," huh? I'd have chosen skittish, panicky, put-upon and subdued. Given the vis-a-vis "competition" between Rhonda and Pierce, Pierce not only lost but seems to be in a perpetual losing position. His one apparent victory in "out weirding" Rhonda didn't even last the day, if it even had any effect at all, and was turned against Pierce less that 24 hours later. Initial impressions, Allan, be mindful you don't solidify them around a partial demeanor.
