You say that like there's no same means to do so in life, and predictably so. Well, yes, you'll notice my initial response to this line of inquiry was "yeah, I'm working on it".

In truth, I can do more of the things on that list than some people; let's just say there's some advantages to being an EE major.

Now THAT's teasing. 2 Hours on EasyToon.

EasyToon is what I can only describe as delicious, and while I pine for layers and at least grey scale, EasyToon sure does make it easy to pound out some slick animations in a jiffy.

I actually tried to incorporate the "squash and stretch" in the underdesign of the jump animation here. I'd say the next two years are likely to see about half an hour worth of EasyToons outta me. I'm not gonna let myself go overboard, but one every now and then? Why not?

Hmmm... And when can we expect the nationaly syndicated premiere of the Umlaut House Saturday Morning Cartoon?

Sometime about "don't hold your breath".

I can imagine, under some freak set of circumstances, 20 years from now when America has figured out that queer people are people, and skirting the boundaries of good taste as was done with Pinkey and the Brain or Earthworm Jim or The Tick, an Umlaut House saturday morning cartoon could be done.

But, like I said, don't hold your breath.

If I ever get my hands on two specific pieces of software, neither of which has been invented yet, I could see to making some 2-3 minute shorts.

They are:

A peice of affordable animation software that meets the KASUMA (like having a Korean Animation Studio Up My Ass) standard and which meets standard internet browsing formats,

and

Auditory manipulation software that can allow me to do realistically female voices. I'm a halfway decent voice actor as is, but I can't hide the testosterone in my voice. And modern software can't do it, either.

So if I get those two pieces of software, I'm in business. Untill then, well, there's always EasyToon.

it is possable to create a passalbe female voice with male vocal cords. but it takes an INSANE amount of work.

if you are interested you can google some sites on transgendered voice training... they should have some good tips.

Or you could ask a female friend to help you out with the voice acting. Just a thought. *shrugs*

I think Umlaut House would fill the Family Guy/South Park niche a good while before it could work as a saturday-morning type cartoon. *shrugs again* In any case, I want to see it when it happens.

I'd offer to let you pillage my copy of Jasc Paint Shop Animation Studio (my copy is legitimate, though yours would not be) but I'm pretty sure it doesn't meet the KASUMA standard.

As for making female voices...the logical solution is to find a female willing to voiceact for ye.

Hmm. It may be -possible- to get one or two female voice actors, but I'd really want at least six voices (roughly the number of male voices I can manage) if at all possible. All I gotta do is marry a voice actress, eh?

As to the KASUMA standard, I'm actually expecting Adobe to create a sort of "Flash Elements" app. that would be good for animation and low-grade scripting but not the "professional" stuff they sell it for. Adobe is vastly superior to other software companies we might mention because they have "nerfed" versions of their top software at reasonable prices. Photoshop Elements might not be the top horse in the barn when it comes to image processing, but it's got the layers, pressure sensitivity, and sophistocated lettering engine I need for comics. It really pisses me off when companies sell products for exorbitant amounts, knowing full well that the bulk of users, the ones who are going to make the product a standard by their use, will be pirating the software. Including theft in your business model is bad mojo.

As to sit coms, Umlaut House doesn't really fit either the saturday morning genre or the "cartoons for grown-ups" genre, although I see now that it'd be much easier to disguise Umlaut House as the latter. I can, for exaple, imagine this happening in the previews:

"Admit it, you had sex with him."
"No I didn't."
"Yes you did."
"No I didn't."
"Yes you did."
"Fine, but you did too!"
...
"That's true."
