Now don't take me personally, people.
I was being at least a little humorous; if I was somehow genuinely offended I probably wouldn't have posted anything.
It's important to remember that I am a friendly moderator. In general, if you see something from me that looks like I'm taking umbridge at something or another, I'm only kidding. If I ever were to see something happening on the forum that I didn't like, you'd probably get a long post, like this one. Certainly not a short little one, as my desires would not be properly communicated.
In general, I utterly LOATHE non-face-to-face forms of communication that are done in any way other than those which allow extensive editing and proofreading. If I can see your face, I get a huge-- HUGE bandwidth of information about you, how you feel, real time, no waiting. I'm a very emotional person, concerned very much about shades of grey and subtlety. With BBSs, and comics, for that matter, I get to sit and deliberate how something should be said, and weigh the pros and cons of each word or line.
And even then I can miss.

PS: That sigh was also a joke.
-sigh-
PPS: And that one.
-sigh-
PPPS: But maybe not that one.
-sigh-
PPPPS: But now it's getting rediculous, so I'm going to stop.

*gets a hose and gives Nyamaza, Allan, Alfy, Randyg, and jarylan a cold shower. The ringwolf then gives Allan a dictionary* Those words, I don't think they mean what you think they mean; at least not the way you are spelling them.
You might want to dip your feet into the graphic novel set when you have those big concepts, Allan. There was no way a person could reasonably be expected to understand that backstory through a graphic medium without pages of visual material to clue a body in to what is going on. Whether it is what is going on inside the character or an exchange outside the character. Purely visual media doesn't give us context nor meaning. It lacks depth unless one is inudated with a volume greater than what you can put together in a few months.
One of the reasons I stopped bothering with reading the stories of Tiffany Ross (Cyantian Chronicles et al) is her inability to convey a whole story by any other means than telepathy. Very crucial things she expected her readers to just know without any real cue from the comic. Don't fall into that hole, Allan. Most of your readers don't know what you know. As the story teller you must tell us the story, all of it - a detail does not exist until you convey it to us... in detail.

Thanks, Andrick, they needed that.
Quite accurate.
(Which words did I get wrong?)
Anyway, this is exactly what I plan on doing. The next chapter of Unit Zero (well, actually, the whole chapter may be a do-over), will be presented as one block instead of spaced out so wide, and I'll have some test audiences go over it with a fine-toothed comb before it is released. I do try to keep track of what I have and haven't said, but I still make mistakes; this is why proofreaders are INVALUABLE.
Y'all can consider yourselves proofreaders, especially if Unit Zero gets a do-over.

The words in particular are "ridiculous", "admonitions", "preying", "Jamaican" and "umbrage".
You also started talking in the first person when writing Arnold's history. O.o I'm not touching the psychology of that one.

Why do you strongly identify with Arnold?

High school was pretty bad for my relationship with my father, as I imagine it always is, and Arnold's rise to power is a fairly decent metaphor for anyone growing up. All I did was amplify it.
Also, Arnold's delusions are a lot like my personal demons. They whisper in my minds ear, or slosh through my brain reminding me of my many little failures, and I have to steel myself to keep from visibly showing sudden sorrow or regret. It's nowhere near as bad as having a host of homunculi whafting about the air around you, making biting comments at every few paces, but again, all I've done is amplify.
Also, he shares my megalomania.
Arnold is the worst of me, amplified. But because of the megalomania, I can enjoy being him. I like to imagine building up a base of power and kicking down fence after fence as an empire crumbles before me. All the while, ghosts whispering in my ears, using powers granted me by an upbringing that was too harsh by half, and the voices of real people crying out. For me, and against.
No, I'm not crazy. But I know what it would probably be like. It would probably be like Arnold.
