I blame Shakal for this...but...

That doesn't rule out Volair, Jake and yourself...

P.S. You know, I'm suddenly somewhat curious. I doubt so, but if I got threatened by Dr. Hundecoph (for butting too much into personal business) I am sure it would be quite different than Saundra's threats. *hair goes up* Yeah, come to that, he might just threaten to turn me into a vixen.
"What the?! Where did you get THAT?!"

Dear Jake,
On a much less... err... likely to get me blown up note, I was wondering if any issues ever arose due to the "all my friends are here... and I've slept with all of you" bit. While you've always seemed quite happy with your life, that one quote never seemed to fit to me, and I can imagine there being issues for me if all my friends were people I had been physically intimate with (not that I'm a particularly... stoic individual).

Was this quote based of any real fear or issues of self worth? Or was it more just... your brain catching up to events in a particularly paniky part of your life. If so, what other friends have you made (being, it seems, somewhat tangential to the mad scientist/superspy circuit of your hubby and close friends).

Basically the sheer weirdness of my life all sorta collapsed in at once, and so while I was still working on panicking over Rick's past having a much more literal connection to me than I'd previously thought, I was kind of thrown the curve ball of realizing I wasn't anywhere near as different from Volair as I'd previously thought.

i do believe that people have forgotten your gender changing device and Sandra being the genius that she is may well want to try it out especially considering what she said to Liz a few years back and a few dimensions over.
the darkness is ever present even in the light.

the perversion doesn't stop just because the sun comes up

if i can make people think and consider their lives even for a moment each day then my life has just that much more meaning

one of the hardest skills i seek to master is the skill of knowing when to shut up

A few questions...

Post by Cromm »

To Allen:

Do you have any plans on ever going into detail about the Change Plague? (Either in UH2 or just here in the forums?)

----------
Jake wrote:There've been a lot of jokes about me carrying Rhonda to term via abdominal pregnancy but in all honesty, she was decanted like something outta Brave New World.

Aww, I guess that blows the alternate "Rick just turned you into a girl for ten months" theory out of the water then, huh? :p

Speaking of (this is to Rick, TMR, or any future character that cares to answer), now that Ricks GBR is old hat, is it common at all (like... even in 10% of cases) for same-sex couples to change genders in order to have a baby the 'natural' way? I mean, just in general in your world.

----------

Dear "Uncle Frank" (http://umlauthouse.comicgenesis.com/d/20041214.html)

Did Rick 'help' you back then, the way he did Dr.Peggy Seuss, or are you comfortable with the body you were born with?

----------

<big one here>

Dear Liz (and Lucy for the last question as well),

As we know, back in EvilCon 2021, Dr. Lyse inflicted you with a virus that caused lesbianism and nymphomania. Some time later you went to him demanding a cure for his supposedly 'temporary' virus, as it hadn't worn off. He told you that the only way it wouldn't have was if you had fallen in love with the target.

With that in mind, my questions are three:

First, did the 'nymphomania' part ever wear off. ;)

Second, did you ever question your sexual orientation after meeting Lucy, but before the virus?

And finally, this last question requires a little set-up:

Now, I think a lot sometimes about the nature of love and romance, of the different kinds of love and sexuallity as well. I'm sorry if this is too personal, it's just that I'm very curious, and I'm not sure how I'd feel in your situation.
` You found out at Rick's wedding that the virus Dr.Lyse gave you is still active, effectivly keeping you a lesbian even though that is not your regular orientation (or correct me if I'm wrong). That revelation made Lucy question whether your relationship was 'real' or artificial, and you assured her your love was real.
` I don't question your love. Nothing Dr.Lyse said about his virus mentioned effecting love. My question, to both of you, is this: do you ever worry that although Liz's love is real, the romantic and/or sexual part of it is not? That, without his virus, you two might be very good, very close friends, but not partners or lovers?

To me, the very idea of someone twisting my emotions, feelings, sexuality, or really any part of my personality is terrifying. If someone changed, altered, or even mutilated my body, I'd still be me; but if someone effectivly alters your mind... how could you ever trust what you yourself think and feel.

For me, at least, I don't think I could cope.

Rick wrote:It's uncommon. I don't know of any men who've been men for ten months as you say because as you might be aware, long-term "Bending" will cause symptoms functionally identical to Trans sexuality, the very ailment the GBR was created to cure. Short-term stays are less hazardous, and I have heard of a few women who have briefly worn a male body to conceive children.

Liz wrote:The nymphomania wore off inside twenty-four hours. And I'd previously charted my own Kinsey at around one or possibly two, but even that'd be stretching it.

*set up*

Liz wrote:We've had some long talks with Dr. Lyse since he went white-hat. The details are perhaps more subtle than even that. One thing I've noticed is that I'm not sexually attracted to other women. The only time my eye has ever wandered was back towards men.
Dr. Sapho wrote:She stops when I do this though.
Liz wrote:*SQUEAL* Now, look, I'm trying to answer a question here.. See, I was complaining that I was still gay, but what I really was was still gay for Lucy. And Dr. Lyse's virus is tailored to avoid "turning off" certain kinds of feelings, like, well, long-term emotional investment. The viruses he used at that EvilCon were very carefully designed to do no "lasting harm," and that includes what'd happen if you fell madly in love with someone only to have it forcibly detached from your hindbrain like a snapped-off limb.

It's easy to get existentially frightened if you think too hard about the fact that we're all just biological robots seeking out what makes us feel good. But me? I'd rather go with what works, and Me and Lucy? It works.

My GOD does it work...

Terribly sorry! An understandable mistake, I hope. The GBR being what it is and you being so good at what you do 'n all.

Dear Saundra

Have you ever figured out what makes the time-space continuum lime-flavoured?

----------

Dear Rick

How did you live after being decapitated? Did someone save you, or did you have a back-up plan for just such an emergency? If so, how -does- one plan for such an eventuallity?

----------

To anyone willing to answer

Does anyone still use head's up displays in your time? The eye-if seems vastly superior, but I have to think there are some people who'd want the tech, but who have issues (moral, personal, fear, whatever) about surgery.

----------

Dear Alice and Lain

Are you fraternal twins, or are your physical differences sheerly the result of Lain's training?

----------

Dr. Sissyphus

Back when you first caught Eliza, if things hadn't turned out the way they did, would you really have just tossed her in the dungeon to rot? I know you say you're evil, but I didn't think that kind of evil. .... or did you have other plans?

Saundra wrote:Well, technically it isn't exactly *lime* flavored, more of a vaguely citrus flavor caused by the ionizing effect portals have on air. Essentially, the "sour" receptors of the tongue are being directly stimulated by a surface reaction.

As for the viscous fluid you saw, this is a really weird effect of spatial distortion where "fake" or non-inertial matter is sloughed off by the singularity. This stuff decays into photons over time, and thankfully for Volair's health does so largely in the visible spectrum.

Of course I use mine primarily to look awesome. The surgery for installing these devices is phenomenally noninvasive-- it's more like getting an ear pierced than brain surgery these days thanks to medical nanotechnology.

Still, for reasons of style, self-discipline, etcetera, some use HUDs mounted to sunglasses, which thanks to miniaturization weigh no heavier than ordinary sunglasses might be expected to.
Dear Alice and Lain

The nature of evil

Post by Cromm »

To Drs Lyse, Sappho, Miller; and any other that's gone 'white hat' since Evil-Con 2021.

I've been considering the nature of Evil in your world, and find that for a planet as full of supervillians as yours is, suprizingly little real evil is done. My questions: what's the most evil thing you've done in your past? What's the most evil thing you ever -tried- to do, but were stopped from doing by 'the good guys'? Do you think you were every -truly- evil?

Dear Saundra ( since Dr. Lee scares me for some reason)

you have pioneered so much for the same reason that i have embraced extra-dimensional travel it seems but tell me (keeping in mind that unlike most of you Volinar seems to be a dimensional constant. grounded in space time as it were) have you ever considered using your experience with extra dimensional travel to try to find a world were the change virus never happened to compared it to your own and see how you and your friends compared to the world you know?

To any of the cast who care to answer:

What would your ideal Christmas present be?
Warren Ellis: I figure that the more of you there are around me, the more chance there is of the inevitable hail of bullets hitting you instead of me.

Dr. Kelso: In order to save us some time, I shall be calling all the males "Daves" and all the females "Debbies".
Debbie: Debbie is actually my name!
Dr. Kelso: Then in fairness to the others, you will be "Slagathor".
