Couch?

ok, I moved this weekend. That's fine, I have all my stuff moved, everything is getting into places, it's all cool. Except one thing.
The couch my roommate gave me.
Now a bit of explination may be in order.
1) I own (and moved) in a Honda Civic, with help from a couple friends, who own an even smaller car.
2) Unlike the rest of my furnature, te couch does not disassemble into convenient (read, fir into my car) pieces.
3) the total length of the move is 13 blocks, roughly 1 mile total.
... HOW do I move this couch? It seems a bit far to carry it along sidewalks, I know noone in town with a van or pickup truck. And my old appartment place is saying they "might" (read will) "have to" (read they're money grubbing bast...) charge me if I leave the couch there. Wonderful.
Mind you, I'm not horribly attacked to this couch. It'll fit in my new studio, but I don't often have others over, so it's really not needed. Any suggestions what I shuld do?
PS I have to do SOMETHING by th eend of th e31st, that's when my lease is up.
