fanart?

Post by Maximuscoolman »

don't get excited, i haven't drawn any (maybe in the future) but i just read this
I updated the FAQ again; more questions, more answers. And I put some more fanart up.
after today's strip. well either it's been there for a very long time on the index template and i haven't just noticed it, or i'm not noticing the new fanart. there must be fanart that hasn't been put up beause:

and there's nothing by mr wyatt on the fanart page.

Fan art

At the risk of tooting my own horn (insert vaguely obscene innuendo here) if you're hard up for fan art, try this:
It's a fan strip/crossover I did between Umlaut House and Jack recently.
For those unfamiliar with the Jack strip, it's about the grim reaper (a rather nice bunny, name of Jack) and what a lousy job he has. The fan strip does involve death (but in a nice way!) and gives some (non-canon) back ground on Rick.

At the end of the strip, Rick gets a taste of heaven as he and Jake get physical ( :D ) and one of the angels gets a taste of hell, dealing with Volair ( )

WARNING: Although the fan strip, "After Happily Ever", is fairly light, Jack itself is a very heavy, dark strip. It contains strong themes of violence, rape and cruelty. It also has a constant theme of redemption, that even in the very heart of hell itself, there is hope. It is NOT for the faint of heart.

A word of explanation is probably in order here.

I suck at updating pages.

There are many factors contributing to my suckage in this department, but the most important factor is probably that updating pages feels suspiciously like work, a thing of which I have a very short supply. Since I need the work to do things like design amplifiers for scanning antennas, I tend to shy away from updating my website.

Another big one is that I'm always on the move, and my hotmail account recently sank beneath the flaming ocean of brimstone and sulfur that is Microsoft's idea of "free internet services". Because I switch computers frequently, and because my hotmail account was generally overflowing thanks to my digital packratism, I ended up with fanart strewn about a half-dozen computers, and updating the fanart page from that situation was even MORE like work.

To make matters worse, I haven't responded to even half of the fan mail I get, a source of incredible guilt for me. I fight that off by thinking, hey, this comic is a hobby, and people will understand if I suck at responding to email.

(If anyone's read Dan Shive's explanation as to why he doesn't respond to fan mail, my answer is nearly identical.)

I'm going to do some form of site update after my last deadline this quarter, which by pure coincidence happens just after the last strip.

Of course, it won't be the last UPDATE.

What about the way they do it at Jacks? A forum/thread where fans can post their artwork.

I admit, I don't know the rules/limitations of whatever hosts the forum. There might be limits to how big you can get. Also, I assume you would want to have some sort of control over content.

Just a thought.

whoa, that's me being foolish again, he did a whole crossover storyline in Dansk Folly, how could I forget that?

but i did find some fanart not on that page in one of the (really, really) old topics on this forum
http://woofaboomus.ngender.net/April-02-big.JPG
might want to put that on the CD or something, i'm sure you'll want to at least save it if it isn't already.
