[ot] (as if that's unusual) Brother Bear

Post by Nyamaza »

Has anyone else seen this movie yet? I saw it last night, and it has secured it's place on my list of the best animated films of all time. It beats Little Mermaid, and is in STIFF competition with Aladdin and BatB, though Lion King still impacted me more.

Why is noone else raving about this movie here?

If I'd seen it, I'd probably be raving about it. Disney seems to be "getting it's groove back", so to speak. I actually -loved- Treasure Planet, although it didn't hold a candle to Emperor's New Groove or Lilo and Stitch, of course. Looks really good from the previews, though..

which makes it all the more sad that after Home on the Range they will be closing their pen and paper animation studio for the foreseeable future ending all painted animation movie production

though I think Lilo and Stich is their best so far personally

Closing? Really? That is sad... especially given all the really awesome movies they've been coming up with lately... *sighs*

Actually, the impression that I got from the previews for Brother Bear was that they went out of their way to make it the most horribly clich

the problem is they have actually been loosing money despite strong showings of people the bad reviews of almost all the new ones (except lilo and stitch) and the sheer cost of them as compared to other movies (including CGI which is actually cheaper)... well you can see where this is going....

The previews only tell you plot A... the happy, kiddy, fun one. (To use the TLK analogy, simba being presented, he's going to be king, he makes friends, he becomes king.

The second, MUCH darker plot that happens at the same time (think anything in TLK regarding Scar) isn't even hinted at in the previews.

I broke out laughing several times, and still throw quotes bacn and forth with my roommate that saw it with me. but there were still also at least 3 seperate occasions I was choking back tears. (sometimes for sandess/regret/empathy, sometimes happiness, sometimes both together)

Trust me, see this film. It's the movie "Simba's Pride" should have been.

Oh, to comment quick on the music.. th music in thsi film is like the music in most any film... that is it helps with the mood of scenes, transitions from one place to another when dialogue wouldn't really work. You jsut barely once (iirc) have an actual character singing. I personally can't remember any of th ewords to ANY of the songs, I never paid attention to the songs, I was too busy payign attention to the movie, a very interesting change from how Disney has approached its songs in the past
