A funny idea.....

I had a really weird idea that's related to the premise of Umlaut House in two ways, but not directly to the comic. So, it's semi-sort-of-off-topic-ish.

The Rocky Horror Furry Show.

Substituting characters from ASB (Associated Student Bodies, for those of you who haven't heard of it) for those of RHPS.

Marcus and Danny for Brad and Janet, respectively. Ricky, of course, would be Dr. Frank. Tiny for Rocky.

What I'd REALLY been thinking about, was how some of the songs would be altered for furries, and especially the ASB cast. For example:

"T-t-t-t-t-t-touch me...I wanna be yiffy! Thrill me, chill me, fulfill me...creature of the night!"

"I've been making a man, with fur blonde and tan, {...} ...sweet transvestite, from Transpecies, Transylvania...ha ha!"

And I have no idea how the heck "Dammit Janet" would be changed. "Dammit Danny" might work, and those portions could be altered slightly. But the rhymes for Brad would be much more difficult to alter to fit "Marcus."

Thoughts, anyone? BTW, if you have no idea what the heck ASB is, or who these characters I'm referring to are, click the link inside parentheses way up there. It leads to the official website (at least I think it is) for ASB.

Actually.......

There is a premise, a concept, barely conceived, yet begging to be made real, rattling around in my diseased brain. Every time I get to the strips that should happen around haloween, I start thinking one thought. One premise poking its head out from behinds the folds of the story line. Its name reveals all that it is, in all its terror and potential glory, for it is:

THE RICKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW

To quote the immortal Bowser:

BTW, I just remembered something about that that I'd meant to post.

The "Transspecies" part I put in came originally from an idea to alter it for RL furries (fans) like myself. It had originally been "just a sweet transspecies, from Transsexual, Transylvania" but I figured that in Ricky's case, it'd make more sense to keep the "transvestite" portion.

And...

UH version?! Even just the possibility of one?!?! SCORE!!!

I just HAD to post this, and can't wait for the Keenspace boards to get back up. Those of you from said currently down forum may recall the idea I had for replacing the characters of the Rocky Horror Picture Show with those of Associated Student Bodies (8-issue print-only furry comic. Very yiffy. Very gay.), and how the songs would be changed. (It's a given that Ricky would play Dr. Frank.)

Whilst washing dishes at Jack-in-the-Box, I mulled over the following. (Note for RHPS lyric buffs: Yes, I know that sometimes I must squeeze in a syllable where there is none originally. But I actually sounded it out, so [for example] a quarter note is transformed into two eighth notes [or maybe an eighth into two sixteenth; I don't know the time signature of the original score, I just play it by ear] in some places and it actually works with the original music.)

Marcus: Hey Danny.
Danny: Yes Marcus?
Marcus: I've got something to say.
Danny: Uh huh...
Marcus: I really love the...skillful way...you beat the other boys...to our wedding day.
Danny: Oh, Marcus...

Marcus: The river was deep, but I swam i'. [Danny]

Note to those with dirtier minds than mine: A crocus is a kind of flower.

Note to those more pedantic than I: Yes, I am aware Marcus does not usually speak with a Scottish accent, nor is it consistent in this song. It was necessary to rhyme with "Danny," okay?!

Actually, I wouldn't really be doing a full-blown parody of RHPS, more of a section with lots of references.

But I have the Minimum Cultural References rule, which states that if a cultural reference is likely to go over more than 30% of heads (including international readers), it must either
A) Be utterly inconsequentail to the plot
B) Be only one strip, and I can only do one such joke per year (IE The Star Trek Reference strip)
or
C) Be a sidebar that can be skipped without loss of continuity.

So the Ricky Horror Picture Show will have to be a "bonus" feature, perhaps in graphic novel format. Depending on what kind of summer I have, we'll see if it appears.

Doh, all this talk about ASB makes me wish that I could buy a copy of the series. Ah well, at least I have the net to let me get webcomics like UH.
