No Bearing Surfaces! Whaaaua! (Warning: now sex ed thread.)
See, I've still got no furniture in my appartment, save a foldable chair and an air mattress, plus a cardboard box I'm using as a TV stand. So I don't have a table to draw on.
Well, the lack of bearing surfaces is more of an excuse. The REAL reason the color finale is so hopelessly delayed is probably Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. The atmosphere of that game is so thick you could cut it with your finger. Plus, the Prince takes some part of his clothing off every now and then because it's been torn or whatever. It's like a -really- slow strip tease. And he has this female lead to contend with, which creates some positively hilarious little quips like:
"Okay, there's a crack. Crawl through it and I'll get the switch."
"Oh, what's that? Did you say you actually NEED me?"
"-argh- YES."
"Oh, allright then."
Classic antagonistic female lead. We all know they're going to end up together just from the fact that they hate each other, but it's still fun to see it unfold, and well done, no less!
But really, the lack of bearing surfaces -is- an issue. Since I don't have a table I can lay my tablet on, I really can't use the ruddy thing worth beans. See, when a piece of paper (say, on a sketchbook) is balanced on the human knee with a small rectangle of solid material as a bearing surface, it still works because the feedback loop between pencil and eye is so high gain. Pencil moves, marks are made -right there- where the pen is. With the tablet, the feedback path involves a computer. Pen moves, digital signals are transmitted, marks are made on the screen. Long path. Bad marks. Plus, with no table, my screen is further away. My feedback path has no gain, my offset is large, so I can't draw with my tablet.
So...
I'm seriously considering doing this The Old Fashoned Way.
But reguardless, tomorrow's update will just be more sketches, but I'm hoping for "real" output soon. There are more comics coming; they just aren't Umlaut House. (Well, maybe some of them are Umlaut House a -little-)

Have you ever noticed that the Prince of Persia, someone obviously born and raised in Persia, has a British accent? WHY?!
On another note, one of my best friends is Persian. We make jokes about the game a lot. But at least they're better jokes than the "Kill Bill" jokes I get from every other person I meet. (My name's Bill!)

People from the former British Empire sometimes have British accents (when speaking English). I don't know if Persia was part of it, but India certainly was.
Personally, I don't knock it because of the way I get all tingly when the prince talks.

Personal Situation Update:
SWEET! NOURISHING! BROADBAND!!!
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh!!!
Of course, there's still nothing good to draw on, but that will change soon enough. Oh yes, then, then there will be some ass kicking.
Tuesday, I think I'll toss up the "tennis strip", which I don't -think- has been up yet....
Detail Bear, have you seen a color tennis comic? Warn me if you have!

No recollection of colour tennis comic. Nearest references are Volair in a cheerleader's outfit and someone wielding a racquet or bat.

I now have a cork board which should provide at least a modest amount of control and give my hands a place to rest while I draw. I'm getting the early stages of some form of repetitive-stress syndrome in both hands, and my clipboard simply will not do any more. Nobody panic, however, as I am going to see a doctor about this if my lifestyle changes (using keyboard wristrests, better drawing habits, etcetera) do not correct the problem in a reasonable amount of time. At the moment, both wrists seem to be getting better due to the wristrests, but some of that could be from my relative artistic inactivity lately.
(Those of you who are of a protective nature, do not worry about me failing to get treatment; I REALLY care about the use of my hands, as they are my work, play, and only likely sexual partner for some time to come.)
I think I'll still post the Tennis Comic as tuesday's update, even though I'm going to be doing real art all weekend, dog willing. Now, I must go fry some chicken for my increasingly late supper.

Just gonna chime in and say that I too think Prince of Persia is a great game. Didn't notice the removal of articles of clothing, but of course now I'm going to be watching for it. (Maybe I'm just not far enough in the game, though.) And yes, the dialogue is great. I'm actually sort of glad I don't own it, because I probably wouldn't see daylight until I finished it. ^^;
Oh, and I've liked all the little filler comics/sketches so far. Hooray for rabbits!

I'm sure you're not the only one who can say that, I can say it for a start. One thing that makes me feel happier knowing that my hands are my only likely sexual partners for some time to come is my newly found ability to use my "partners" to get multiple orgasms.allan_ecker wrote:I REALLY care about the use of my hands, as they are my work, play, and only likely sexual partner for some time to come.

Well, it could be that we were struck between (a) shock and (b) awe and (c) trying not to be catty and jealous. Sort of like one of the Mudd androids. Good for you MC. When we meet, you'll have to demonstrate for me.

For the reccord, I drew today's filler BEFORE you said this.RandomScribe wrote:Just gonna chime in and say that I too think Prince of Persia is a great game. I'm not really into games, so I don't quite get the latest filler (and I guess that makes me alone here). It looks nice but, 6 hrs a page? I'd sooner have more witty bits and bisexual chaos! Still, it's your Graphire Allan ;)
As for sexual 'partners' I find it hard to achieve simultaneous orgasms myself :)
