contemplating give up TWC

Post by Tangho »

I have been doing TWC comic since 1997. For a long time, drawing TWC strip was a form of entertainment to me. but lately, I don't feel any joy doing it anymore.

I can't bring myself to end it just yet. It would be like. . . stop seeing an old friend. Althought the friendship had waned, you still feel it should not end just like that.

I miss the one-gag a week TWC.
TWC does not "feel" the same way it did back when I started reading it. It's not as easy and free as it was. (Maybe I see it that way because you wrote it...)
I am not shure I will miss TWC in the current form. But I would like to see your humor drawn on paper(well, screen) once in a while!
If you leave TWC please do not leave the internet :D

Maybe you just need some rest. You could ask to see if some person want do some guest comics, use it as a buffer and see if after lived few weeks without drawing it if the taste for draw new ones is reappeared. It's a wild guess but maybe it will work. Personnatly I like TWC, the idea to not see it again sadden me.

Bonne chance pour retrouver le goût de dessiner cette BD.

S.P.P.

I still love reading it, but if it feels empty and no fun to draw I'd feel bad for you to keep writing it.

I wish I had more paypal money!

I remember having read TWC for a long time now. After finding this page through a link from the White Swimsuit Brigade, I was hooked.

From TWC to TAV to the short story collection, the most impressive part has always been the storytelling.

If there is no joy in your work, it loses something. Do what you love to do, and it will show.

Maybe I have too much on my plate.

Back then when I started TWC, that was the only comic I needed to write and draw. Now, beside TAV, I have HCT and STAV(with Jos) for Slipshine. Those are important to me because I need the money, and I have to admit this amount of work load is draining my brain power and energy. When I was drawing TWC, I couldn't help feel guilty of not spending the time draw more HCT and STAV which I am obligated to do.
That's why I feel less fun doing my free comics now. It is like a student playing video game when he should be doing his home work. The game just isn't as fun as when he's playing it after he finished all his home works.

Also, when I have good idea, I'd have a hard time deciding which comic I should use that idea in.

I just hope I am a more energetic person. But the face is, I am just a lazy bum who until this year, only work summer in a baseball stadium. Now I got this job in a Hockey stadium and need to commute in winter, I've became a very tired person lately.

9 years, eh? Kind of sad if you want to retire the comic, but maybe it's just its time. And besides, if you ever feel like you want to update it again, it's always right here.

Greetings,

since 1997, almost every aspect in my life has changed, and I have given up every hobby and activity I had in 1997 and have been picking up new ones. My job is different, my girl friend is different, my home is different, but I'm still reading TWC. Kudos to one who has shown the persistence to continue drawing a free online comic for such a long time!

Though I'd really miss the adventures of Phoenix, I'd understand if you'd like to stop drawing TWC. In addition, I want to thank you for not stopping in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005!!!

regards, juh

I have a suggestion; instead of a TWC comic every week, maybe you should do a TWC every two weeks instead?

I want to say exactly the same thing. I admire your persistence and consistency. And though the style of TWC has changed since the beginning, I still enjoy it thoroughly.

I would like to think that somehow you will find the time to keep doing TWC, but if you need to focus on the paid comics instead, it's totally understandable :) Regardless, I wish you good luck.
