How come no one saw this coming???????? I mean out of all the predictions we made I don't think anyone even considered her notch coming into play. YOU GUYS ARE SLACKIN'!

Really, though, it's so simple, yet I never even saw it coming...

I have to admit, I never suspected that Xe would've attacked Twapa. To a point, it makes sense, though, now that it's been revealed. Twap looks like she's about twelve or thirteen, there.

I wonder what this attack did to Twap. She seemed to be studying the fish in the aquarium, trying to draw them. Twap has an artistic side...and somehow that drive was replaced by, well, her "mad scientist" bent, along the way.

'Sides, Poey, you didn't see it coming either, did you? ;)

Perhaps I'm just being thick.. but I can't quite figure out the chain of events in today's comic. Why was lil' Twap attacked? And why at the aquarium? And why does she seem to be the one pursuing Xe?

*gets a bad feeling* I don't like thinking about what happened to Twapa's mom and dad. This could get icky.

Okay, this is how I took it to be the events...

Xe is watching Twap while she is doing something over at the fishtank, it's hard to tell if she's drawing or just watching. Don't know why he's stopped to watch yet, but I have my suspiscions. Anywho, Twap turns around and sees Xe watching her, and recognizes him for some reason. Xe runs away, Twap chases. When she pulls on his harm to stop him, he pulls out the knife and causes the infamous ear notch. I'm curious to know what each of their reactions were after the events. The mental process going on in both their heads. Xe probably just took it with a grain of salt considering he's a hardened killer at that point. I feel like this though, is what caused Twap to start down her "hardened exterior" road. The emotional trigger that caused her to close the world off because she got hurt physically and spiritually.

One thing I'm curious about though, having talked to Gloria, did you always have it in mind that Xe caused the notch in her ear? Sometimes I'm really curious as to what goes on in that brain of yours Gloria. But darned if it hasn't made some spectacular things! :D :D *anxiously awaits next comic*

*shrugs* Well, by the time we found out about Xe's past, we aleady knew that Twapa had been an orphan. I had thought she was a "control," placed out in the real world so X-I would have a baseline to compare the other clones to (which was half right), but there was nothing to indicate that they knew each other when they were younger. I still suspect Xe is the one who pulled the trigger on Twapa's parents... I dunno if this revelation makes that more likely or not, but I still think that's coming up.

But oh, this is a bad, bad development. I fear greatly... I fear what will happen when Twapa finds out... has she suppressed the memory? Will she hate Xe? And what will HE do? Can he even face her?

And yes, that panel is the most painful, gut-wrenching of them all for me.... :(

It was pointed out to me that Xe woud've been too young for that. So I doubt it was him that did her parents in.

I don't know if she'll hate Xe, but I could understand a bit of resentment.

You see some guy, you chase him down, and he cuts you with a switch blade knife. Not a normal occurrence. But why run him down? Does she know him? Is he not supposed to be there? Whatever it is, judging by the exit door, Xe not only wants to get away from Twap, but out of the building as a whole.

Where they are is also kinda suspicious. Twap looks old enough where she would remember most of what happened in her life at the current time. So it's hard to think she's still at a X-I building of sorts. Is it the children's home Zirrus was talking about? If so, what is Xe doing there? A highly trained spy and assassin loitering in a public building where an experiment is looking at fish? Was he sent to spy on her? More questions are asked than answered with this new development, that’s for sure.

Also, with what Zirrus said in the 11-23 comic, does this mean Xe really is his son? And if so, Idria is his sister, correct?

Way to incorporate that notch in Twap's ear! I hadn’t ever really thought about it other than being a physical trait but now it’s much more than a good way to tell the difference between original and clone!

Perhaps cutting Twap was the "big trouble" that Xe got into before he ran away, as Idria had informed Fluffy earlier in this storyline. Oh yes, and by the way i am new to this forum (although I have lurked extensively here and elsewhere). So, hello. :D

Hello, Dave! Nice to have you onboard! I dunno if this is related to, or part of, the trouble Xe got into, but... well, I was going to say that this has to have taken place long before Keer found Xe, but we don't know how long elapsed between Xe's leaving X-I and Keer finding him... I sorta think it was much longer, but who knows?

W.M.Y.L.G. Joe wrote:It was pointed out to me that Xe woud've been too young for that.

True, true. I was basing that assumption on Zirrus' statement "...It was a pity they finally caught on." I took this to mean that an extended period of time had lapsed. Combined with Idria's statement that "We were hardened killers by age 10." And I know for a fact that some warlords in Africa use child-soldiers as young as six and seven, and one of the ways they are indoctrinated... I didn't think Xe would do it out of his own choice, but that he was forced to by his handlers at X-I...

And yes, thinking along such lines is depressing... I must admit that discovering that Xe has such a violent history bothers me a lot...
Don't get me wrong, Gloria, I think the story is excellent; I can't wait to see what happens next, and it makes sense and fits, but I just miss the Xe of old... But that's a pointless lament. *sighs* I'm a reactionary at heart, I hate change, though I recognize the need for it. Just drag me kicking and screaming to the next strip. :)

Yeah, quite shocking it was. I am not much into pondering what the consequences of all this are gonna be, I'm just shocked at the moment. Poor Xe, what will become of him now? What will he do?

whats to say just because Xe remembers things from his past that he'll change a lot, 10 years of killer stuff that he blocked out or the rest of the years being nice? Like I said Im betting on somewhere in between the two extremes

Not only that, but the use of the word 'litter' could lead one to beleive that there were quite a few. Assuming more of them escaped and survived, Xe and Idria may have quite a family of ex-assassins out there.

Hmm, I kinda think that this will become very convoluted. I always thought the notch was a a way of telling her apart in the black/whites, since she could be confused for Keer, it you couldn't see much of them. I also thought it was supposed to be some sort of ornamental notching like some cultures use.

BTW, I, too, am new, but don't bother with telling me I'm yours. I knew the moment I laid eyes on furry last year that I was hopelessly obsessed.
