But, What's Xe's Contribution To The Story?

Postby Tek Roo on Sat Nov 16, 2002 2:09 am

Okay, so we have recently seen a few sociopolitical ramifications introduced here about Twapa, her parents and their relationship to X-I. But, though present and around here somewhere, Xe has largely been inactive as a contributor to this region of the story arc even though what we may learn about him has the potential to be more shocking. Additionally, what he has recently learned about himself could very well change everything. We can't help but wonder when his turn at revelation will occur, and what will be revealed with his recovered memory and what-not...

Sorry -- no time for proper sentence structure. I'm a very very busy 'roo this month it seems. Gotta go!

Hmmmm... good question, Tek! I've been trying to get a feel for where the storyline is going, but to no avail. There's so much up in the air, and I've been hung up on how someone, anyone will get out of this... (oh, now I see things have changed.)

In regards to Xe, we know that he and Idria are NOT clones. However, there is something suggestive in the fact that Zirrus is also a weasel, but I don't think Xe and Idria are his children. I recall that there were others, though the number isn't specified. However, it seems unlikely that internal recruitment would occur. That would require either parental complicity, or X-I would soon deplete their brain trust. I predict that the group Xe and Idria were part of were orphans, either through normal circumstances or those "arranged" by X-I. As for how Xe's character will change, hm. I expect he would be a little more assertive and decisive, perhaps less wishy-washy. Definitely more conflicted as his past and present natures collide. We've already seen that in how he resonded to Erin's questions, though that may have been more a function of a concussion...

There is one thing about Twpa's parents that I am beginning to suspect, but that I hope is not so... Zirrus says that "It was a pity they finally caught on....they posed a threat to the success of the project, and so had to be eliminated." I wonder who was tasked with eliminating them? Although Twapa never knew her mother, we don't have proof that their elimination coincided with her placement in an orphanage. Idria says that by age 10 "we were hardened killers."

The more I watch what's going on, the less convinced I am that Xe didn't know about himself for a lot longer than we think.

I know there's a lot of evidence one way, and I'm not calling for a debate, but in seeing Xe, I'm reminded of one of my favorite characters: Kenshin.

Kenshin's a character from a japanese tv series. Back in the mid 1800's, there came an emperor to japan who was determined to make Japan a western-style country. The samurai class objected, and would have had a successful coup of the country, were it not for the Battousai. The battousai was a ruthless killer who in a single night slaughtered 150 samurai, ending the rebellion.

Time passes.

Ten years later, a young man with a cross-shaped scar is accosted by the police. THis is the meji era, they say, and people aren't allowed to wear swords. The man, Kenshin Himura, says it's all right. His blade is reversed. The cutting edge is on the wrong side. So, it's useless. They let him go.

Kenshin is an affable goofball. A wanderer with no set purpose. He hangs out at a dojo run by a nice lady and takes care of her siblings. No one thinks much of him. He's a sweetie, but he's not all there. However, when people come looking for the Battousai, Kenshin's always involved. He's different. A focused, amazingly skilled fighter whose attacks would be devastating were it not for the sword he was carrying. Nothing he does is lethal.

Kenshin is the battousai. After that one night, he saw that no ideal was worth killing for. He swore he would never kill again. He knew he can never atone for all that he had done, but he must anyway. And if that means keeping himself in a state of uselessness, taking care of the people he loves, and protecting their noble ideals, so be it. He -likes- being a goofball. It's so much better than being a killer.

I see Xe in the same way. For all his talk of amnesia and such, maybe he just walked away, not wanting any of it.

From memory: Hee. That kind of makes sense, and I know a way for Gloria to confirm that theory, but I somehow can't see Twap punching Xe in the side of the head, and then Xe making a goofy, deformed face and shouting "ORO?!" ;)

One way or another, though, how come he's still reasonably sane, if we can trust what Idria said about X-I's "Lassie come home" device implanted in its' agents heads. Xe is obviously not dead, and no more insane than the rest of the cast, so what happened there? (Can Idria be trusted?)

Meanwhile, back at the house, Snitter is teaching the mini-muffins to "stan' in a line and do sumfin'." ;)

And Gloria's reply:

Haven't I heard this somewhere before? I'll have to use it in the comic someday. hhehee...

I suppose that is going to be more or less what is going to happen now. Xe recalling his past, but not wanting to have to do anything with it anymore. I suppose he'll give himself much grief over things he did though.
His amnesia was surely for real - events and things surpressed because he didn't want to remember them. Peoples subconciousness can act so when faced with serious traumatas.
I feel quite sorry for him. :(

I've done that before, by accident. You clicked "Edit", not "Quote"... which you have the power to do, as a moderator/admin/whatever. I'll restore my post as best as I can from memory, and then tag yours onto the bottom.

No worries, Gloria. :D

Ahem, to quote a hapless orc peasant from Warcraft II, "STOOOP TOUCHING MEEEEEEEE!!" ;)

That was drawn by a talented local artist named Sumarra...it came from a badge she made for me. The cost? A good footrub. I've asked her to do a commission for me, too, and she's ready to do it. All I have to do is scrape the money together. (I suppose I could pay in many footrubs, but I think her significant other might have something to say about that.) :D

Ah yes... the whole "hit the wrong button" ploy... I think I may have come dangerously close to doing that to Elix myself back in the Commander Kitty forum days!

I would've liked to have heard about that...I wasn't the one doing the power-gaming flame wars on Scotty's forum. In fact, I missed seeing most of it happen. I come back and half the forum's locked down. :)

Hee. Though I do distinctly remember jumping over the sushi counter and hiding below...popping up in time to grab a salmon roll and duck back under with it.

Bah! You would have to remind me of that! I have only just recently recovered from the stress-induced fur loss! A certain someone actually thought he could win that dang battle, even though he was the only one taking it seriously!

I should thank you though, for bringing at least a little bit of sanity to that forum -- even though you did have a piece of tuna or some-such on your head for most of it!
